Q: Open iTunes to see that every song has been deleted

I opened my macbook this morning to start an assignment and i needed some music. Open iTunes and on the music page where my library usually was is a regular itunes advert saying itunes music and telling me to click a button to go to itunes to get music or to scan the computer to get music. My over 5000 song library was not there. The whole itunes was empty, music, videos everything. When I looked in the iTunes folder where all my added music got saved after importing it for the first time it was empty. Look in trash bin, empty. My music has magically disappeared. I am not sure if this is due to an iTunes update. I havent used my macbook for acouple days, i need to ask if my mum who used it lastnight pressed anything she shouldnt have. But i really need some help and any is apprecited greatly. Its impossible for me to go and download everything all again. Thank you.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), iTunes library disappeared

This is the directory (which is the default location for your iTunes library) that you've checked : /Users/username/Music ?

If it's not in there, and not in Trash or elsewhere on your Mac, then do you have a copy of your library on a backup drive that you can copy it back from ?

If not then what you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage (there should be a 'download all' button at the bottom right of that screen)

What country are you in ? Music can be redownloaded in some countries (as long as you haven't changed countries since buying it and it's still in your country's store).

Have you been keeping and maintaining a backup copy of your downloads/library, or have a copy of them on an iOS device ?

You should be able to redownload your iTunes music purchases in Australia, unless you bought them when you were in a different country. Does Music not show as a category in the Purchased link under Quicklinks ?
