Q: How to connect my MC207 (macbook 2009) with iMac 2013?

There is a 4 years gap between the two model, so I am not sure if the "Mini DisplayPort adapter" and one more "cable" work well for that.

The model of my macbook is MC207 (white one).

What things do I need?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You should be able to connect them and use Target Display Mode......BUT....isn't the new iMac MUCH more capable of getting your work done than a four year old MacBook? Seems a bit backwards to me...but what do I know?

The mini-Displayport just supports video. In 2011, Apple replaced the mini-Displayport with Thunderbolt. Sadly yours is one of those rare MacBooks that has only ethernet or 802.11n for networking capability.

What are you hoping to accomplish? Just file transfer or using the iMac as the display for the MacBook?

Thank you, I think video is enough for me since I am a web designer so I do not need audio to be also played while using imac as a external display. I am wondering what I need to use imac (the latest model) as a display for my macbook (I am not meaning "second display" coz I do not need anything to be displayed on my macbook while connecting with imac).

Hi, I would like ue imac as a display for my macbook, and I do not care if anything displays on the macbook or not while connecting with imac. I will check the link you provided, thank you.

Good question.. since the iMac is owned by my company, so I do not have enough authority to install some of my favorite plugins and applications on the iMac. I hope I could use my old laptop while working in office but as my boss said: 'it looks so strange in my place'.
