Mar 26, 2014 3:54 PM in response to Licabettusby djreano,I have been using Macs since 1996. Those who are as old as I am will likely remember Conflict Catcher, and rebooting several times to find a conflicting extension or control panel under Mac OS 7.
Deaj Vu feelings
I have read this entire thread and I am coming back every other day hoping to see a reasonable solution for this. For me, so far the best solution still is waiting for OSX 10.9.3. I used to have AirParrot and AirDisplay installed and I have uninstalled both. As this problem is affecting only my Macbook Pro Santa Rosa (Macbook 3,1, pre-unibody, late 2007), I can still use my Macbook Air camera.
I will not mess around unless 10.9.3 does not fix it.

Mar 26, 2014 8:58 PM in response to enr0gueby Frederic Cote1,Thanks enr0gue. AirParrot was the problem on my MacBook Pro. I removed the the drivers with these commands and iSight works again:
For Macs running OS X 10.6, the following commands can be run from the terminal:
- sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
- sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
- sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Preferences/com.squirrels.AirParrot.plist
- sudo rm -rf /Applications/AirParrot.app
For users using OS X 10.9, the following additional commands may be necessary:
- sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/APExtFramebuffer.kext
- sudo rm -rf /Library/Extensions/AirParrotDriver.kext
Restart once you've removed the drivers.

Mar 27, 2014 1:39 PM in response to Licabettusby dkuntz01,Well after having sifted through all the advice here (it is all very helpful) I bit the bullet and removed all the "not signed" kext from my system (really just copied them to a temp directory. This was after verifying that my camera worked fine on my MBP in safe mode. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but that everything worked perfectly. I had some very old kext and removing them was probably long over due. So if you want to fix the problem take the time to remove these old kext and your system will be good as new.
Thanks again for all the terrific help in this post.

Mar 30, 2014 8:15 AM in response to zeljkofromsibenikby Antonio Tejada,No. This issue demonstrably and reproducibly has nothing to do with PRAM. The cause and solution have already been identified. Please don't add useless instructions.

I discovered when trying to use google video/chat, kept on asking me to downlaod plugin for chrome, which i did several times, which didn't work, then found a post to check if the plugin was enabled, which it wasn't;
view chrome://plugins/ to check....still no joy.....
tried skype which had been working and video didn't work on that either, as unable to access iSight, so started looking in Apple forums.....and found my way here.....
....and a solution...

PROBLEM=========
After upgrading to maverick 10.9.2 my camera stopped working on my iMac and on my MacBookPro.First I suspected that it was the maverick upgrade, which was the problem.
After spending several day with searching on the internet and trying all the different suggestions.
Which included re-format hard disk, re-install Maverick again, safe boot, removing old *.kext files, repair disk, check disk with permissions etc. etc. (waste of time)
I phoned apple support, but they said that it was a non apple App which caused the problem.Then I say somebody saying that the AirDisplay was the problem.
SOLUTION
==========
I finally found out:
That by uninstalling the AirDisplay solved the problem, and now the camera works again.

When do you have a fix for this particular problem. No update was available yet today when I tried.
Are you working on the problem?
A lot of people have this problem.
I you do not intend to solve the problem, I think it would be fair if you give my money back then, but of cource I prefer that you solve the problem.

Apr 6, 2014 10:20 PM in response to finn rosenkildeby finn rosenkilde,This is the response from AirDisplay ==>>>
Hello,
My apologies for this issue. It's a bug we are aware of. It stems from an issue with OS X. Certain Macs that have a third party video driver installed will exhibit this issue. So, it's not just Air Display that causes this problem but other apps like Display Link, AirParrot, etc. will also have this issue. Apple has contacted us regarding the problem and they're looking into it. It's not actually something we or those other third party developers can fix. Apple has to address the issue with OS X. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

I've been experimenting with my iPad as a second display and tested a bunch of apps, and totally forgot about Splashtop. I've deleted it a long ago, but it SR*.kext still were in /System/Library/Extensions. You rock!
