Q: missing picture

Hi people, I need your help!!

I'm using Aperture 3.5.1 now, when I inport photo from somewhere else in to the library, everthing look good. But if I delete the original folders before I quit Aperture, the photos I just saw into the library will disappear.

I have to quit Aperture before I delete the original folder in order to get the photos really into the Aperture library.

Is this some kind of bug? Or it just has to be done that way?

Oh ya, I'm not sure this is a connection but sometimes the photos I imported will show double in one or two of them. I delete any one of them, the second one will also left from my library. However, I just ignore it and reopen the Aperture, eveything back to the normal; no more double photos.

Thank you for your time.

Confirm that you have a back-up, then repair your Library.

How are you Importing?  Where are you storing the Originals?

Do you have Photo Stream on?

Just adding to Kirby's recommendation -  I am not quite sure, how you are importing and how long you have waited, after starting the "Import".

But if I delete the original folders before I quit Aperture, the photos I just saw into the library will disappear.

Have you seen the "Import completed" message, before you deleted the imported folder?  Aperture is importing in the background - the items will not actually have been imported, until you are seeing this message.

You can check the progress of the import in the Activity window:  From the main menu bar - Window > Show Activity.

    Hi Kirby,

I just create a new project, and drag photos into the blank area. And I do confirm that the amount of photos in that project is the same as what I impor before I quit Aperture.

The library is located at a external drive using 1394B. And that  library does not have photo stream.

    Thank you.

And I'll try your suggestion  to see it can work or not.

    Hi léoni,

    It's a lovely lion(?)

Anyway, I do not see the messages shows import completed  because I think I did check the box "do not show again" before. As for activity window, I do notice that there is a rolling circle at the lower portion of Aperture window during the photo importing, but I'm pretty sure that I deleted my original photos after that circle is gone.

Is that what you mean that I should delete my original photos after I see it's 100% completed in the activity window?

    Thank you
