Mar 28, 2014 10:58 AM in response to peter aagaardby Spikerman,Exactly the same for me after upgrade to ATV. To get DD I'm now having to send to ATV via iPhone or iPad which is kind of cumbersome to say the least and should be totally unecessary

Mar 28, 2014 4:48 PM in response to peter aagaardby JMichaelTX,Hey guys, while I was searching the net trying to find which movies in Netflix had DD, I ran across this great streaming movie search engine:
It can search both the Netflix Watch Instantly and Amazon Video libraries, identifying titles which are available from both services and the features of those titles (HD, 5.1 sound, subtitles/closed captions, Prime Eligible). Additionally it can filter on 5.1 sound.
Enjoy!

Mar 28, 2014 11:05 PM in response to peter aagaardby Skuker,I can confirm this Dolby issue on two Apple TV 3's. Also Netflix video never seems to go above 720 according to netflix test clip.

Mar 30, 2014 9:52 AM in response to peter aagaardby -BluE-Dragon,Well over two weeks now and nothing sorted yet? Come on Apple!
I have resolved the issue by taking my ATV back to the retailer and replacing it with a new one. Then mad sure "automatic downloads" are switched OFF.
Good luck getting yours peeps.

Mar 30, 2014 10:35 AM in response to bomsomby dmorris145,Why is everyone confirming something that has over three pages of confirmation?
-
Mar 30, 2014 10:54 AM in response to peter aagaardby -BluE-Dragon,Maybe to show technical support that it's not just a one off, as they say they haven't heard of this issue.

Mar 30, 2014 1:08 PM in response to peter aagaardby Tony Davenport,Here's what Netflix said to me:
"I had a quick chat with Tech team and you were right my friend, They are aware of this issue and they are working on it as we speak I truly apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused you and can confidently say that our engineers will have this resolved for you in no time as I have been given some fantastic news about how they are dealing with this situation. I promise you that getting you back to streaming in style"
"in no time" is a few days now

Mar 30, 2014 2:17 PM in response to Tony Davenportby audiofool,I can't comment on the DD aspect of the issue as I'm running only 2 channel audio.
But I have noticed since the last software update that all shows that were previously appearing as tagged SuperHD are now just HD.
The odd thing is that after rebooting my ATV3s (have 2 of them) when I got to something like an episode of "Everybody Loves Raymond", the SuperHD logo appears for a split second then it's replaced by the HD logo.
The Netflix application that is built into my Panasonic Viera ST60 will display the SuperHD log on this show (and others) and there is a discernable difference between the PQ that I get between the ATV3 (lesser quality) and the Viera on-board app (superior). All units are running wirelessly and have been switched between 2.4gHz and 5 gHz from my Asus 66n router. One of my ATV3 units is connected to the Panny, both in line of sight from the router.
The PQ indicator on the Viera app starts off at 720p HD, then drops momentarily to 480SD, then back to 720HD and then remains static at 1080P for duration of the episode.
It appears that the SuperHD/HD variance is more Apple-centric by my process of elimination (?).

Mar 31, 2014 5:30 AM in response to peter aagaardby stevo1234321,Same problem here, Netflix seems to know about this.
I've been told they are working on a solution with Apple to get things going again.
I bet we won't see a fix anytime soon b/c what's in for Apple solving this?
Is there any way to roll back FW until this gets fixed?

Mar 31, 2014 1:14 PM in response to audiofoolby sebastian255,Oh please, can we please stop assuming the 6.1 update has anything to do with SuperHD?
I can still watch streams in 1080p on my ATV3. Definitely. But Dolby Digital is gone, and that's the problem here. Apple, Netflix, or both: Please do fix this!
Netflix help pages on "missing" SuperHD: "Although some Super HD eligible devices do not currently display the Super HD logo, we continue to provide Super HD video quality for these devices."
-
Mar 31, 2014 1:32 PM in response to sebastian255by dmorris145,No, you please
The missing Super HD indicator definitely is related to the latest update
It was there before and gone after update
Whether or not it impacts picture quality is a different matter
But you can't simply dismiss its absence
-
Mar 31, 2014 1:56 PM in response to dmorris145by sebastian255,I'm not dismissing the absence of the logo. But as high quality HD video is definitely NOT missing, I wouldn't mention it, either. Especially not in a thread about "No Dolby Digital".
After all, they might have removed it intentionally. I mean, how "super" is SuperHD 1080p now that Netflix also streams shows in 4K, and how fair is it to flash a SuperHD logo when many customers only have enough bandwidth for SD?
