Q: How to set up older airport express base station

I have the older Airport Express Base Stations and I want to hook them up with my new Airport Extreme. I can't locate them in the set up process and while they show up in my Airport icon at the top the message I get when I click on them is "This version of AirPort utility doesn't support this base station. Are these now useless?

What is the exact model of your AirPort Express and your AirPort Extreme base stations? What is your goal for the Express? That is, do you want to use it to extend the Extreme's wireless range or just for streaming iTunes/sharing a USB printer?

What operating system is your computer running? Finally, which version of the AirPort Utility are you using?

You will likely need....or be able to borrow for 15-20 minutes or so...... an older Mac running Leopard (10.5.x), Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or a PC, all of which use the 5.x version of AirPort Utillty.....to be able to administer the older base station.
