Q: My text boxes do not automatically overflow into a new page. Help?

I am a  first time iBook user. I am frustrated because my text boxes do not automatically generate a new page when I fill the text box on a particuliar page. I have gone through the help and it indicates that they should automatically generate a new page and allow you to keep typing. Instead my text disappears below the text box and can only be made visibile If I expand the box. What am I doing wrong???

Text boxes added to the page are not "flowing text" boxes.

You need to insert a new page from the Add Pages menu top left and chose from One column, two column or three column.

Thanks, Vinny but I tried that with same result. I am typing in the template text box and it just will not flow to the second page. The help guide indicates it should. Is there a setting I need to check?  I have tried to check the format of the text box and can't see a setting that would help. Maybe I should just delete the embedded text box and put in my own and then see if it works. Thoughts?

When   you start a book from a saved version of the default  template  -  you start  normally with Chapter 1 > Section 1 > Page 1.

    e1.jpg

The Chapter page above - shows a NONE flowing text box, you can  change the text font, size and colour and  stretch a little,  but not much -  if you paste too much text, some will not be  visible and a + will appear to  tell you so!

    2.jpg

    Sedction 1:

On the left is a NONE flowing text box - on the right is a FLOWING text  box   and you can see the  little blue handles top left and  bottom right of the  box. They show when you select the box and indicate the  text will flow and create new pages if needed.

page 3 ( in this Chpater)

Again, this is a FLOWING text box and the  blue handles can be seen.

IF you  had pasted  - say 10 pages of text - into the right column of Section one - it would have flowed into page three and   then added another page and repeated intil all the  text was in place.

I think you have not yet  resolved which page type  and  text box you are dealing with.

    Hello Vinnyvg,

I am a bit confused.  Could you explain in a bit more detail.  I know I am not in a flowing text box.  How do I make it 'flowing?' I originally used a template, changed it to a word processing document, and am still confused, it appears that at one time the text was flowing to a different page.  As stated, I am confused and any assistance you could offer would be appreciated.

    Thank you so much!
    Jenny
