Mavericks and FCP X 10.1.1 work together.

If your version is in fact 10.1.1 using Libraries then view this tutorial to get started:

The updates have been isntalled for all of the softwares. The FCPX started to glitch immediatly after update: at first it would open all librbaries as prior, but crash a lot. Then it suddnely failed to open two out of three, after numerous restarts of hard drive and computer, it has opened 2 out of 3 libraries, but one that I need to use is not opening up, it shows dialogie box as if it is about to happen, as it is reading files, and nothing. There is a glitch.

I have used utility disk to check the hard drive containing missing library, which appears to be in good health and works perfectly fine for other purposes.

FCP X and Mavericks are causing more problems then helping me with any of the workflow, unfortunatly.

If anyone has ideas on how to refresh a path to the library -- please let me know.

If you followed the link Al posted you can compare what you did when you upgraded to the best practices Ripple describes in their tutorials.

It's hard to say from your post what issues are. Did you move projects and events before or after you updated to 101? In your Libraries pane do you see an event called Updated Projects?

    Hello,

I have watched the tutorial and I have followed normal update when I did it: just to reiterate -- all three libraries where there immediatly after. As i mention above third library titled MRNINGHUSK started to crash and then disappaeared from the library panel on FCP ( but the bundle icon is still now visible on disk, as well as its full content package). However, I can't launch it -- not through any method. If go to update libraries  - the FCP reads it as already updated. If I double click it appears to be launching and then nothing appears.

If I try to locate it = the message I get is that another Mac is using it, but there is no other Mac, so I am really really scared that it is gone in a warp of crappy updates, as it happened with Iphones and a lot of what Apple seems to be releasing without enough refinement... IDEAS? HELP!!

A few things that may be confusing the app.

The folder with the same name as the library, the folder named Private and the folder named VIDEO.

Try disconnecting that drive. See whether a library on your system drive opens as it's supposed to.

thanks Russ, I have tried disconnecting and restarting numerous times. something isn't quite right, it's almost as if it thinks the library is opened by another computer but there isnt one...very confusing.

the other folder is not the same name, it's the old back up.Screen Shot 2014-03-30 at 2.24.38 PM.png

I moved it and privat and video elsewhere, disconnected again, to test, same problem persists. 2 libraries, third missing, if i click on its bundle icon, looks like it is reading file and opening, and nothing shows up on FCP.

    all ideas welcome!

    many thanks

FCP cannot update project and events in the backup folder. The projects and events folder must be in the correct location used by the application that has been the standard since the application was first introduced. Only projects and events folders in the Movies folder or at the root level of a secondary drive can be accessed by the application, not projects and events embedded inside another folder, such as the backup folder.

Switch off all networking on your computer and reboot your system.

hello Tom, FCP can have root library as well as several external harddrive rlibraries as it was originally designed.

i have re-statred many times, diconnected everything, reconnected. etc. including network. to no avail..

as can be seein in the screenshots above, I have two external hardrives, both in good health according to disk utility, both have updated bubdle library icons and package contents. one has a problem the other one works perfectly fine.

one of the external hardrive library does not open -- although it had been udated and exists with entire contents. the harddrive in question does not have any problems with other applications.

Which drive is the problem drive? The drive with the Time Machine backups? Some other drive? How are they formatted? How are they connected? Have you trashed your preferences and reinsatlled the application?

hello all, I have finally called Apple support since it's an upgrade issue and i never had other prob with FCP. thi is the jist of it so far:

the issue is that my backup drive(timemachine) and library is on the same drive, the permissions of writing to same drive interfere with each other. I am moving the library to another drive and hope it will help. will keep you posted. essentially i did not know that backup and video work drives should be split up. good to know.
