Q: Safari iOS 7 keeps flashing previously closed tabs upon reopen? Security Problem

Hello, I am using an iPad 2 on iOS 7 with safari in private mode.  Safari on iOS 7 has a bug (iOS 6 didn't behave this way) where you can close tabs and leave the safari app and when you come back to open safari, it will flash an old tab on the screen before loading a fresh blank page.  The weirdest thing is the tab isn't even the most recent tab, just something random during the day.  I could just picture this causing problems for people e.g. Husband shopping for surprise trip online and expedia flashes on screen for his wife even though he thought he'd safely closed the tab or any other situation where you don't people getting a peek at your business.  What is the point of private mode if safari chooses to randomly display previously closed tabs to anyone?

Please post if you've noticed the same behavior.

I was going to loan this to my girlfriend so we could keep in touch when she went on vacation... Until I saw this glitch. Not to undermine the rest of ios7, although I'm not a fan, but this issue drove me to hard reset my iPad 2, take it to an apple genius, and after 20 minutes of him coming up with nothing remotely helpful I'm putting it out for sale. This issue being a solid 95% of the reason, the other 5% being that I like to keep my gadgets up to date.

I had the same Problem with the flashing images. What I have found Out ist that when I close the Safari Tab with the x before closeing Safari the problem is gone.

I have also found out ifo you do not close it this way that your browsing history is there if you open Safari the next time.

To try this surf the Web and got a couple diffrent sites. Then turn your iPad off after powering it. back on and starting Safari you can go back to all previous visited sites.

If you leave alias with the x then this should be gone.

I hope this is helping some of you.

Called Apple.  They had me reset all settings and install the new IOS 7.1.  So far it hasn't happened again.  I have been testing it like crazy to confirm.  I will be taking caution in the future with Safari.  Not convinced it's secure.

Jcpack, I'm interested to hear if the problem returned or not  two weeks in - did the provided solution work?

Funny you should ask.  I just tried it last night after waiting a week.  Sure enough, when I clicked on Safari, an old webpage was displayed.  The history and cookies had been cleared prior to the opening.  Just like the other times, it showed for 1 to 2 seconds then went to the favorites page.   It is not fixed and Safari is not secure.  I haven't had time to correspond with apple again, but I'm pretty disappointed they can't get their browser fixed!  PC has it down, not sure why Apple can't. I'll let you know what they have me do next.

They are in denial.  They told me to restore to factory settings, which does not fix the problem going forward.  I told them this, but they don't have an answer.

Don't know if I missed it, but it happens using Chrome's incognito tabs as well on my iPad. Clearing cache and all data makes no difference. iOS is storing an image somewhere and it isn't being cleaned out been with a reset. Surely they can duplicate this bug.

Hello all again. Since I close all Browser Tabs with the small x before cloesing Safari this problem does not happen anymore. Do not just minimize Safari and leave all tabs open. If you do not close all Tabs than the history of your browsing is still there and the web pages visited. Just try this. Browse with Safari to a couple diffrent web sites, then just close Safari, the reopen Safari and the latest page will open, if you then hit back (arrow left) you will go to page visited prior to that one. If you on the other hand close all tabs with the x before closeing Safari this will not happen. This has solved the poping up pages for me.

I also am having this problem.  I can not believe apple has not addressed this.  This is a game changer for me, I will go to android devices if this is not fixed very soon.  It's just ridiculous.

I also see old web pages displayed randomly in the minimized app icon, like when you are switching between apps. Sometimes the page displayed is very old. This seems like a serious security breech - sensitive data like credit card info from a purchase being retained and randomly displayed. No way to predict what image Safari will choose to display and when. Where are the news organizations on this story?

I have the iPad Air and it happens to me all the time. If this isn't sorted soon I will trade my iPad in, finding a new tablet is easier than finding a new wife!

It can flash up pages from days past.
