I did. Thanks again for the advice. The biggest problem with typing in the password each time is the notifications stop working.

Certain email providers allow text notifications that you have been sent an email. With Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Office Mobile Service (OMS) or a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 account, you can send and receive text messages (SMS). But beyond just sending and receiving text messages, you can also configure Outlook to send notifications to your mobile device as a text message.

For example, you can receive an alert on your mobile device that an important e-mail message has arrived — you can even have the e-mail message forwarded as a text message. You can also have Outlook calendar summaries sent to your mobile device.

Was trying to show this is not a unique issue, that other people must have the same or similar issue.

Mailbox +, can you send me a link to this? I could not find it on the app store. If this third party app has a way to be locked down, and I can find one for my personal email too, then that may be the best workaround I have seen yet on this.

James, you could be on to something here.

A couple for you to look into:

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/boxer-for-gmail-outlook-exchange/id561712083

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mail+-for-outlook/id428974099

I'm not sure how readily they are available in all countries, or what sort of restrictions your work mail may have that could be an issue, but hopefully will be a start for you.

I have found that the app BoxCar works well with fixing the notifications issue, it's a push service. When you delete out the password from the email account, does it ask you to type it in each time? Or does it remember the password for a certain length of time? Will it show existing emails, before the sync? This would go back to the privacy issue.

Do you know off hand if either of these require a passcode when they first load?

Setting the APP passcode should be optional (definitely is for Mail +; I use that feature on the phone, but not on the iPad). Obviously you would still need the user name and password for the mail account when settings up.

I have children.   Start being a parent.

It is not your job to make the kid happy.   It is your job to teach the child the rules of life so he has an easy time out in the world.   Any kid that doesn't know what "no" means is in for a nasty shock.

I would never snoop in my mans phone, email, text messages, etc.   it's nosy, rude and wrong.

Even with restrictions on the phone, if you keep loaning it out, you will keep having problems.

When are you going to draw the line?   When the kid chucks is across the room after loosing a game?   Deletes an email that costs you your job?

By the kid an iPod touch

But the GF an extra charger.

I like your reply, and I agree. Some things are just the way they are. Looking for a technical way to get this working. At first, I did not let the kid use the phone when it was new. Now it's an older iPhone 4 and I let him play with it.

I did think about getting the kid an iPod touch, but I think I will just let him use this phone when I upgrade and it is no longer a phone (after I have removed all my accounts, etc). I'm waiting for the $200 for the newer model. I may even wait for the iPhone 6, which looks promising.

James, this worked great. I was able to set a passcode for the work email using "Mail+" which synchronized with my work email. Then I was able to set up "mBox Mail" for my hotmail personal email. This also allowed me to set up a passcode.

Now I can delete all the accounts from the built in mail app.

    Thanks for your help everyone.
