Q: iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7.  My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access.  However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services.  If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first.  But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now.  Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

    Same problem. Try going to:

    Settings

    General

    Passcode Lock ((put your current passcode))

    scroll until you reach "Erase Data"

    enable it

    play with wrong passcodes then it will erase all data after 10 failed passcode attempts

    Don't worry, there's still a data protection.

    ***Hope this helps***

    So I don't know if this is going to help anyone or not...but I originally looked up this post because I was trying to change the settings on my son's iPhone and when I put in his passcode in the restrictions window, it did the same thing and told me it was the wrong passcode.  After several tries and and getting locked out a few times, it dawned on me that while I was using the same code he uses on the lock screen, that was not the original code we set up when we got the phone.  I entered the original passcode we used when we first set up the phone and that was the correct passcode to make the changes in the restrictions screen.  I had forgotten that we had a code before the current one.

    Like I said, not sure if that helps anyone...good luck!

    Help you with what? This thread has gone off in so many directions I've no idea what you are talking about. Maybe post a NEW message and describe your problem and you may get help.

    On the phone go to Settings/iCloud and turn off Find my iPhone. You will need your Apple ID and password that you used to turn it on.

    Or open a browser and go to https://icloud.com/find log in with your Apple ID and password, click on your iPhone, wipe it, then remove it from the account.

    I did not have a restriction code, then the resource com.apple.restrictionspassword.plist :

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

    <plist version="1.0">

    <dict/>

    </plist>

    I tried change the restriction passcode to 1234, and now: (in bold)

    ........

    <dict>

              <key>RestrictionsPasswordKey</key>

              <data>

              S6PcLATheGi4xsdSmsVplFDFhjI=

              </data>

              <key>RestrictionsPasswordSalt</key>

              <data>

              6rqQuw==

              </data>

    </dict>

    .....

    I remove the restriction key, and I set the key 1234 again:

    ......

    <dict>

              <key>RestrictionsPasswordKey</key>

              <data>

              W53yNhyVx4lOF8ibsGDxpI0VOfk=

              </data>

              <key>RestrictionsPasswordSalt</key>

              <data>

              Ag/X9g==

              </data>

    </dict>

    .......

    The value of <RestrictionsPasswordKey> and <RestrictionsPasswordSalt> are different, but the key is the same 1234.

    If I fail by entering the code, I get : 1 failed attempt

    I can see this on the resource com.apple.springboard.plist

    <key>SBParentalControlsFailedAttempts</key>

              <integer>1</integer>

    One way would would to out your phone in DFU or recovery mode. You can look up on youtube how to do that using keyword how to out phone into DFU mode. Once you do that you can restore your phone to the latest backup or set it up as a new phone.

    Hope that helped

    Do you get unlimited tries to put in a restrictions passcode although the time between them increases?
