Q: Migrating data from La Cie to new Mac Book Pro (0sx 10.9.2)

My Mac Book Pro has been diagnosed as bieng defunct and vintage and I have all the data backed up onto a La Cie Rugged.

Do I transfer the data using La Cie in the same way as I would Mac to Mac via Migration Assistant. Also as my defunct Mac

was 7 years old using OSX 10.9.2 won't the new Mac I buy have latest operating system. Does this automatically overtake

the operating system held on the La Cie and upgrade the files as they are transferred. Deb

OS X 10.9.2 is the latest version of OS X. Any new Mac you buy will have that same version.

When you start up your new Mac, it will ask you if you want to restore files from a backup, and tell you exactly what to do.

It will not copy the OS, just your old apps, your documents and all your settings.

Many thanks. Appreciate your swift response.  I am sure I will be OK now. Shame about the

old bust Mac Book Pro that has nowhere to go though.
