Is there anyway to rectify this and get the imac on the same icloud account with the same email address as the iphone and ipad?
To change the iCloud ID on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.

Mar 11, 2014 2:49 PM in response to Precellyby Skier12,After reading many posts and not really wanting to cancel or delete my icloud account, I called apple. Your icloud password IS the same as your Apple ID passwod. To set icloud password, go to settings, tap icloud, tap on your Apple user ID at the top, delete current, old, forgotten password, type in new apple ID password. Done, very simple.

Mar 25, 2014 11:58 AM in response to abbster2000by randers4,You can only create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher, if you have one. You can't create an iCloud account by signing in with an Apple ID on the iCloud contol panel for Windows, if that's what you're trying to do.
Also, if you didn't set up iCloud and turn on Find My iPod on your iPod before it was stolen, it's too late now. You can't turn it on remotely; it must be enabeld on the device itself.

Mar 29, 2014 12:57 PM in response to randers4by chloe721,What if I don't have access to my old email account???
-
Mar 29, 2014 2:34 PM in response to chloe721by randers4,As long as the old ID is yours, and your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), you won't need to be able to access your old email account. You can just go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Apr 10, 2014 7:05 PM in response to randers4by icantdrive,I have a similar issue. I changed my Apple ID/Email address several years back prior to there ever being iCloud. Have never had any issues with the login for iTunes or the App Store etc. When I did whatever the update was that added iCloud to my phone it asked me to log in to iCloud using my old Apple ID. And the only way to update the login is to enter the password. I am not sure what the password was for that login as it was years ago, also I am not sure it matters anyway because it is no longer a real Apple ID and I dont think it actually exists in the Apple world anyway. There is not actually anything on my iCloud account as I have never been able to actually use it. A couple weeks back I went to icloud.com and created an account with my correct Apple ID hoping that would somehow help but of course it did not. With apple's every-growing dependence on iCloud (and Find My iPhone) I am concerned I am going to eventually get totally locked out of my phone.
I went to the genius bar about this problem and they feel like this was all caused from restoring from a back up when upgrading phones at some point. They also said the only way to solve this was to wipe my phone and not restore from a back up. I read your instructions above about going to appleid.apple.com but am nervous I will end up in a worse limbo than I am now and end up locked out of all my apple devices and logins. Any other pointers you can offer would be great. Or, if you think the appleid.apple.com method is best, I can cross my fingers and give that a whirl.

Apr 10, 2014 7:11 PM in response to icantdriveby randers4,It's the only way you're going to solve this, and in fact is somewhat loosly documented by Apple in this article (solution #3): http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5223. (The first two rarely, if ever, work.)
You won't get locked out of anything as you will be changing your ID back to it's original formate at the end. The only way you would have an issue is if you no longer had access to your current primary email address, as it is likely you will need to verify it again when you change it back.

May 5, 2014 12:40 PM in response to randers4by delisafromny,randers4: I don't understand what you mean by "edit the name of the account to change it back...." All I can see on the Manage Your AppleID page is "Your name", "Apple ID and Primary Email", and "alternate email address". I really tried to fix this problem with all the advice you've already given but I can't.
-
May 5, 2014 12:49 PM in response to delisafromnyby randers4,The name of the ID is listed under the heading "Apple ID", just below "Your Name".
Also, this will not work unless the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID. It won't work if your current ID is an entirely new ID.

May 5, 2014 12:54 PM in response to randers4by delisafromny,It's the same as the Primary Email. I did finally get it to work, I think because I was able to verify the former email address (I have it forwarding to my current email.) Then I finished your instructions to delete icloud from the phone and start over. Thanks. My next task is to find how to change my rescue email.

May 5, 2014 1:30 PM in response to delisafromnyby randers4,If you know the answers to your security question, you can change your rescue address as explained at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312. If you don't, contact the Apple account security team for assistance: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.
