Q: Need help with keyboard + mouse multi file selection

In Windows, I'll highlight one files...

I'll scroll down, hold down shift and click another file

What this does is it selects all files in between those 2 files

I cant find a Mac equivalent

Is there one?

Otherwise, it's frustrating holding command and clicking one by one

OK... I know I can drag the mouse - but that becomes tedious when your trying to select precisely and is not as quick

Thanks

It's the same on the Mac. Select first file, hold down the SHIFT key then click on the last file.  You can also simply click then drag the cursor to the last file. To do multi-file selection of separated files hold down the COMMAND key and click.

Switch 101- On Windows, I used to...

    Apple - Support - Switch 101

@kappy, that doesn't work for me

Holding down shift has the same effect of holding down command

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

Are you doing something wrong? Yes, most likely.

    1. Select first file in list.
    2. Hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Click on the last file in the list.

Try it first with your files in List View because it will be a little easier than in Icon View.

It doesn't work in icon view. You have to drag out a rectangle around the items you want to select. Then, you can Cmd-drag  or cmd-click to add more.

In the list-type views, you should be able to shift-select multiple items as you wish.

If you are having the problem in List or Column view, then there is something wrong.

i think this i a bug missed by apple surely?

holding down shift should have different behaviour than holding down command

I can't remember when that was ever possible. If it is a bug, it's been around for a long time.

You can do that from within iPhoto.

I've experienced the same thing. I've found that Shift-Click function, for some reasons, is effective only when files arranged in list as opposed to icons. Try it. Hopefully it works.
