Q: An unknown error occurred (-50) while attempting to sync photos

I'm unable to sync my photos with my iPad mini using iTunes. I've tried following the knowledge base article, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3697?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US, and that didn't work for me.

Back up all data. There are several possible causes for this error. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.

    Step 1

Delete the iPod Photo Cache. Quit and relaunch iTunes.

    Step 2

Check the names of all albums and slideshows in iPhoto. The names should contain only plain letters and digits, not any punctuation marks or other characters. Rename them if necessary.

    Step 3

Remove the soundtrack from any iPhoto slideshows that have one. If sync now works, you may be able to restore the soundtracks.

I've tried Step 1 repeatedly and I don't have any album names with characters that qualify. Step 3 doesn't apply to me either as I have no slideshows.

    Thanks for the tips though.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

    View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

I have found a way to sync photos to your iPhone/iPad/iPod.

Change your sync location from iPhoto to something else

I have chosen the pictures folder. Just put your pictures into that folder and it should work. It worked for me

I went to the apple store and they were able to help me resolve my issue. My iPhoto library was somehow corrupted even though iPhoto was acting fine. I used iPhoto library manager to create a new library and copy all of my photos and info from the old library I've been able to sync all of my iOS devices and haven't seen that -50 issue anymore.

i only rebuild library with iPhoto Library manager, what operations did you do?

in italy the genius aren't so skilled like yours....they don't know that solutions.

Rebuilding didn't work for me either. You have to create a new library then have iPhoto library manager copy over your photos, albums, etc to your new library.
