Apr 14, 2014 3:34 AM in response to Peeoatby King_Penguin,Yes, they will be able to set up the iPad and create a new account - they can either do it directly on the iPad or via their computer.

Apr 14, 2014 3:39 AM in response to Peeoatby bobseufert,Yes they can. If I understand the phrase "does not support" correctly it means there are no more upgrades. It doesn't mean you can't set it up with a new ID.

Apr 24, 2014 5:34 AM in response to Peeoatby Peeoat,Have another question. I was told that if I re-set it back to factory the next person when they set it up back with there own Apple ID they will have a very hard time finding apps that will run on the older ver5 OS. They told me that even the apps I have now on the iPad would have gotten updated to now run with OS 6 and above and they are very little apps then is in the Apple App Store that will run on a 1st generation iPad. Is this true, is there I way I can remove my sensitive info log out of my Apple ID and give it to them this way. And can they then log on with the ID they now have to use it from then on?
Thanks.

Apr 24, 2014 7:52 PM in response to Peeoatby bobseufert,I'm not sure. Since your email arrived in the middle of the night hopefully this will bounce it to the front of the line and somebody has a proper answer for you.

Apr 24, 2014 7:58 PM in response to Peeoatby Lyssa,What the next person can do, in addition to trying to download apps directly on the device, is to download the app using iTunes, then go into the App Store on the iPad and go to the Purchases tab. From there, they can attempt to download the app and should be prompted to download a compatible version if one is still available.
Some developers choose to leave an older version of their app available after releasing a new one, and this older version can be downloaded to the iPad.
It won't work for all apps, but it will work for some!

Apr 25, 2014 9:03 PM in response to Lyssaby Peeoat,Well after re-setting it and set it up again of the 55 apps we tried to download only 3 would all the others said need os 6 or higher. This is a 13 girl who does not have a computer to do the iTunes thing so it no good even for her now it's just a paper weight as I don't need or use it anymore.

Apr 25, 2014 9:59 PM in response to Peeoatby bobseufert,I'm not sure if this will work. The apps are tied to your apple ID why not change it back to your ID and see if you can restore it from a backup. Like I said I'm not sure.
