Q: Old email address in iCloud to be ridded

I have recently changed my iPad4 email address and password because of a hacking problem.    The old address still hangs in the settings for iCloud resulting in my inability to receive mail but allowing the sending and receiving of messages in the Message system.   Would I temporarily have to return to my old address for the purpose of removing the iCloud address in the iPad4 settings then change again to the new one and insert that same new one in the iCloud settings ?

    My message should read:

    Sorry about that!   Anyone . . . ?

I understood what was required from the answer by you, Diavonex, and thank you,  but on going to make the change back I get a response that tells me the password I'm seeking to re-install cannot!   It has to be one that has not been used in the past year . . .   Stumped.

    Hi Ron,

You need to do the following (you do not want to change your password at all):

    1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (do not validate it - this is temporary. Do not change your password): Apple - My Apple ID

    2.     Go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and Delete the iCloud account using your current Apple ID password. Follow the prompts to delete the account

    3.     Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to your new email address (you may need to re-verify it)

    4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID

    Cheers,

Thanks, Gail.   I'll call back later  - still finding difficulties!

Okay, this is my present position after a week of trying.  I've got iCloud up and running under two addresses, one in iCloud and the other my chosen one as first intended.   Everything in that direction works.   However, in Apple Store I have been notified of three different updates needed but when I try to updated I am told "cannot connect to Apple Store" and I am presuming that the reason for that is I purchased those three under the name of my previous address?   Would that be right?   I've had enough trouble to last me and am reluctant to delve again!

I am able to connect with the Store to purchase or download freebies.   That's what makes me consider as I do.

MY COMMENT ABOVE IS ENTIRELY WRONG . . . I've made a mistake.   I cannot get through to Apple Store to download anything and will have to start over!

Sorry about that -  more than so.

In an effort to resolve my problem, I've been into my Apple I/D to ensure that me details are as I consider they should be.   That is the case.    Even though I have the right verified particulars I still can't now download anything from the Store.

Okay.   I now have separate addresses for iCloud - iTunes - and Apple Discussions.  WORKING!
