Apr 16, 2014 7:22 PM in response to abigailgoby Niel,You don't need it. Installing the DVD is a step in the process of upgrading a computer running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier to use iCloud and isn't needed or useful on one already running Lion 10.7 or above.

Apr 16, 2014 7:37 PM in response to Nielby abigailgo,Can you show me how to put iCloud (and be able to access my photostream pictures) on my computer?
And is there a way I could put Snow Leopard on it just to have a newer OS on my laptop?

Apr 16, 2014 7:43 PM in response to abigailgoby Niel,1. It's probably already on the computer; if there's no iCloud pane in System Preferences, run the Software Update pane. Click here for information about photostreams.
2. Snow Leopard is older than the OS you're running.

Apr 16, 2014 7:46 PM in response to Nielby abigailgo,Awesome, thanks.
It says I need to buy iPhoto or Aperture. I guess that's the only thing I needed this whole time.
Do you have any suggestions on which one to get? Or do I NEED those at all?

Apr 16, 2014 7:53 PM in response to abigailgoby Niel,★HelpfulOpen iPhoto from the Applications folder; it's bundled with Macs, while Aperture normally isn't.
If iPhoto's not present and your computer shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from the computer's original thumbdrive.
If iPhoto's not present and your computer shipped with 10.7 or newer, back up your data, download Mavericks from the Mac App Store if needed, and then get iPhoto from there.

I tried to get a free updgrade to Maverics but it said that my computer is too old.
So there's no way I can get Maverics and use the photo stream feature on my *early* 2008 Macbook Air?

Apr 16, 2014 8:02 PM in response to abigailgoby Niel,You can't get the current version of iPhoto on it. Install the older version of it from the computer's original thumbdrive, or if desired, buy an iLife 11 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay.
