Thank you for the question. It sounds like iMovie is missing after reinstalling OS X on your MacBook Pro.
If your MacBook Pro came with OS X Lion (10.7) or later, you can reinstall iMovie from the "Purchases" pane of the Mac App Store:

If your computer came installed OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) or earlier, use the iLife applications DVD that came with your MacBook Pro to reinstall iMovie. Be sure to run your updates after installing iLife from the disc.
