Q: facetime icon deleted on iphone

My kid accidentally deleted the FaceTime icon on the Home Screen of my wife's iPhone 4S. While the application is still installed on the device and we can use it from Contacts, it was a bit more convenient accessing it directly from the FaceTime App itself. How do we get it back, without having to restore the phone to factory settings?

I do however remember having a Facetime icon on my home screen when I got my phone.

Then your memory is faulty, because it never existed on any iPhone with any version of iOS. (Unless, of course, you jailbroke the phone, in which case all bets are off).

OK  my contract with AT&T was for 2 years and expires on May 7th 2013.  I have had my phone since early May of 2011.

Then you have an iPhone 4 and not a 4S, since the 4S didn't come out until October.  The iPhone 4 came with iOS 4 (which supported FaceTime, but no icon for it on the iPhone).

Your link takes you to this... which indicates there is a FaceTime app.....

    How do I enable FaceTime?

You can enable FaceTime in multiple ways, depending on your device:

    iPhone:

    • Turn FaceTime on in Settings > FaceTime. FaceTime will begin registration with your carrier-assigned cellular phone number. Sign in with your Apple ID to also use your e-mail with FaceTime.
    • From the Home screen, open the FaceTime app. Sign in with your Apple ID.

Check the date of the initial post. The response posted at the time was accurate.

Good point, FaceTime only became its own standalone app on iPhone with the release of iOS 7 in late 2013, a year and a half after this thread started!
