Q: Game Center crashes after ios 7.1 update

I just updated to ios 7.1 last night.

I click on Game Center and I can see my profile but if I click on "Friends", "Games", "Challenges", etc on the bottom menu my screen goes white.

I stay on the screen for a long time but it does not load or resolve.

 

Please help.

    Mindy, try logging out of Game Center and then doing a soft reset.

    I have tried doing both soft reset and hard reset multiple times. I have tried hard and soft logging out before hand and closing all apps and then soft and hard reset. I have tried hard and soft reset without logging out of gamecenter first. I have tried doing a general reset Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. I have tried logging out of gamecenter and then removing the game apps (candy Crush and Dragons World) that were affected by not being able to turn on Friend Recommendations in Game Center. Then I reloaded the apps. That fixed Candy Crush but NOT Dragons World. I contacted the company that made Dragons World and they want me to let them link to my phone so they can find the problem and make a fix for it. I am not comfortable doing that. I am not tech savy enough to know if that would put me in danger of identity theft or something. Any other suggestions?

    Hmm.. intriguing.  Please forgive my obvious quesitons, though technical triage requires I do so.

     

    1) Just to confirm, you are logging out of Game Center under Settings, and not just closing it?  (I know you said it above, though just confirming)

     

    2) What model device are you using?

     

    3) What symptoms are you experiencing with Game Center after you do all of the above;  Eg. is Game Center freezing? Not responding? Error message?

    I had this problem on an iPod Touch, and the logout-reset described above also didn't work for me. When I logged out of Game Center in Settings then left and went back, it would show me as logged in again. That made me think it wasn't logging me out properly.

     

    What did work: I went to "iTunes and App Store" under Settings and logged out (possibly not necessary). Then I went to Game Center under Settings, logged out and also deleted my AppleID from the text field. And while I was on that screen, I did the reset. After the reset, I went to the Game Center app (not Settings) and logged in there. The first attempt said it couldn't connect, but the second one worked.

    I was already logged in, but the **** thing took forever to load.

    This fiexed my problem!

    Even I am facing the same problem with my iPad Mini (WiFi+Cellular). I tried to follow every step but nothing worked for me. Everytime I open Game Center, it crashes after 3 seconds of opening. HELP!

    I have some serious issues with friends and GameCenter to. Extremely annoying ones to. And it involves serious privacy issues.

     

    1. I can't inactivate friends recommendations

    2. I can't inactivate nearby recommendations (which involves location services, which is very incredibly extremely annoying and irritating that I can't turn off.)

    3. I have a permanent app symbol badge showing "1"

    4. This GAME CENTER-glitch-crap slows down my iPad 4, 64 GB with iOS 7.1 so much, that it is INSANE.

    Thanks for the tip only updated 7.1 update recently, 

    not sure if it makes a difference which way you log back in? As I'd tried logging in and out via settings a few times and no luck.

    For any of the people  still having problems. I then logged out via settings/games centre/id did the soft reset but then logged back in via the games center app rather than going back  in through settings and it worked

    Hi!

     

    I had the same problem as you had. This is how i solved it.

     

    Step 1 : Settings > Facebook > Click on your Account Name > Delete Account > Remove Facebook Info

    Step 2 : Settings > Game Center > Account/Email ID >Sign Out

    Step 3 : Settings > Facebook > Enter username & Password > Sign In

    Step 4 : Settings > Game Center > Enter Password > Signin

    Setp 5 : Settings > Friend Recommendations > Facebook > On


    Done!!
