Apr 20, 2014 7:21 AM in response to kventuresby Eric Root,How is the drive connected to the computer? USB, Firewire......
Do you have another computer to see if the hard drive will mount there?
Restart the computer holding down the command - option/alt - P - R keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime for the second time.
Disconnect the drive from the computer, shut it down for about 1 minute, connect it to the computer and turn it back on. While, doing that, restart the computer.
Try using another cable to connect the drive to the computer.

Sep 27, 2016 3:52 PM in response to Juanpimqby Amy Gee,Thank you John! This was extremely helpful.
Similarly since downloading macOS Sierra my hard drive would not appear.
I just downloaded the trial version of PARAGON NTFS and restarted the computer; I did not even need to repair the disk.
