Q: iPad turns off as soon as it is uplugged

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. Use the charger that came with the iPad and plug it into a known good wall outlet. Let it charge overnight. If it still will not start make an appointment at an Apple Store for a consultation.

Are you saying that you took it to an Apple Syore Genius Bar and they could not figure it out? .... And they left it at that? Or am I misunderstanding what you are saying?

Your tagline shows that you have the Pad2. Any chance that it is still under warranty? Maybe that's a dumb question, or you would have considered that already. If it is possible for you to do so, I will still schedule an appointment at a Genius Bar. Who knows what they might do for you. But you will not know unless you try.

I have exactly the same problem. Mine always showing 100% charge, but as soon I unpluge it it turns off and wouldn't turn back on, unless I put it on the charger and it always restarts then. Resetting with home and turn on button doesnt work and not waking up either when I plug it into iMac.

So, I took it to a genius appointment to the apple shop (in Robina Aus.) and they said that they never seen this matter and offered me to replace it for $275, as its 2 years old and out of warranty. I didnt go with this offer, as there is life in my iPad and must be a solution for this...

I have the exact same problem. As soon as removing the charger from the iPad2 (whether 100% charged or less), it immediately shuts down. It cannot be turned back on via any method unless the charger is plugged back into the device and the wall. I'd really like to find a solution without having to have a Genius appt. tell me that I can upgrade for a large fee. Less than 2 years old; shouldn't have this issue but after Googling it, seems it is becoming a common issue. An imposed problem via Apple or a glitch?

I have this same issue. This week my ipad2 died in the exact same way. It start when connecting power to it but dies whenever i disconnect the cable. Any solution to this?

i have the same issue with my i pad 3 it shows 100% charging when i charge it and if i unplug it it turns off and in addition to that my display turns off in 3-4min and again restarts everytym i charge my i pad...can i have my problem fixed...and i have taken my ipad for repair they say dat its a battery problem which cost me around 100 pounds should i go for that or does the problem can be fixed in any other manner with less fee..????
