Q: Logs should be made accurate even if child "erases history". And hidden searches shouldn't be allowed for users under parental controls.
Hi all,
Please tell me if I'm wrong, but I'm not finding a way to make parental controls work for my family. When my son had a pc, I got mailed his entire surfing history each day. Every website by time. This was really useful-- it let us discuss what he was watching that wasn't appropriate and that's my style of parenting. I just want us to talk about it. (He isn't sexual-- just bullying/sexist/racist material on youtube showing up in his interest in xbox, etc). but with Mac parental controls, he can erase his history so the logs don't work. Am I wrong about this? Also, I have to check the logs-- there doesn't seems to be a way to have them mailed to me.
Finally, why does Apple allow for a user under parental controls to surf the net using a search engine that allows for private unrecorded searches? Is there one that is appropriate for a teen that doesn't allow for clearing history or private surfing? How would I allow for that website but not chrome or firefox, etc?
Thanks
Julia
