Mar 14, 2014 11:45 PM in response to climber12weby chiefkeith,Apparently it was only a fix for some phones and some carriers...
On my iPhone 5s from Verizon it is STILL the big FAIL!!
I was so hopeful when I recieved all of the notices today about posts to this string and couldn't wait to try it out. NOPE, no go.
I went in to one of the reminders that had not been working and set it to remind me when I left my home. I could just sit there and watch on the reminders screen of the "Leaving: Home" disappear in about 5 seconds. Thinking that maybe it was a corupt reminder from the old days I created a brand new "Test" reminder and had exactly the same results - set reminder, come back to the reminder home page, watch "Leaving: Home" simply go away.

Mar 14, 2014 11:58 PM in response to climber12weby chiefkeith,Well - egg on face, but at least a one... I haven't tested the reminder YET, since it's almost midnight and I don't intend to leave home any time soon BUT I had gone over to one of the other threads and saw a post there about reminders and have now set one and it seems to be holding and I am hopeful that it will work tomorrow when I leave the house.
What the other thread said was that you have to go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars - and I happened to see that at some point (with NO intervention by me...) reminders somehow got attached to my Yahoo! mail account?!?!.
I turned that off AND for good measure I also went to iCloud (which I don't normally use for anything other than "find my iPhone" and turned on reminders there).

Mar 15, 2014 3:34 AM in response to climber12weby AndyMP,I looked under Background App Refresh and I don't see Reminders listed there. Reason I looked is that my usual reminder for when I leave home didn't trigger with the app closed, despite updating to 7.1.

Oct 7, 2014 8:19 PM in response to bgaviatorby Pauletronic,I Don't think anyone understood your question! I am having the same issue! Our location based reminders are not working because siri will not let us set up a location base reminder without s time also! So "I will remeind you when you get to work OR! At 7am" I'm not asking to remind me at 7 am. si the alrm wilol go off at 7 am and not when I get to wOrk! If I remeidn Siri to do something when i get to work it will always do this! Never use to! Driving me nuts! Any fix yet?

Oct 7, 2014 8:25 PM in response to abw5by Pauletronic,TThe problem im having is the same and the first post, only I think a important part was over looked! The reminders are working but Siri automatically puts in a time mandatory' so "I will remind you to do xyz when you get to work OR at 7 am " I'm not asking for anything time, just to remons me of something when I get to work, or when I leave home! This use to not happen! I can go in and manually turn off the day reminder but that shouldn't have to ne done if I'm asking Siri to inly remeind me when I leave it arrive? Any advise? Using iphone 6 plus ios 8.0.2

Oct 8, 2014 3:34 AM in response to Pauletronicby Larry McJunkin,Location based reminders simply don't work. I've had this problem since they were a feature in iOS and I've never gotten them to work. I guess it's something Apple is never going to fix.

Oct 8, 2014 6:33 AM in response to Larry McJunkinby btcompute,While I would love to see Apple improve this capability, I would like to point out an app that I use in place of Siri for location based reminders.
I have been using Locationminder for quite a while now. It seems to do all I need. (I am not associated with the app or its developer, just a customer)
Instead of defining locations in your contacts, you set frequent locations (home, work, places you shop, etc) within the app.
When you want to set a reminder, you open the app, select the location, and tell the app what and how you want to be reminded. Works well in the background.
May be slightly less convenient that Siri, but it works, Siri in some cases doesn't.
Yes, Apple should improve the location based reminder capability, but until that happens maybe this would be helpful for some of you.

Mar 14, 2015 7:40 AM in response to btcomputeby mammonist,I know this is an old discussion but I have just discovered the same iPhone issue, to my frustration. In Reminders on the iPhone, location-based reminders doesn't seem to work, at least not when the app is closed. I was fortunate to open my computer at the location in question, and a reminder popped up on screen. But when I set the iPhone to remind me at, for instance, Costco, to use use a voucher or something, it fails. And I am loathe to keep the app running all the time for fear that its location awareness will drain my battery. Does anyone know of any progress on this front? Many thanks.

Jan 4, 2016 4:25 PM in response to bgaviatorby joecab,This is an old discussion but I finally figured out why location-based reminders were no longer working.
You have to go under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services and make sure Location-Based Alerts is turned ON. This was an especially annoying fix because it's buried and to top it off this setting does NOT come up when you use the new Search function in Settings.
