I have the same problem, and can't find a solution in the links you sent. I purchased an App from the appstore and clicked "install". The Icon appeared on the dock but the status bar didn't move for thirty minutes. I checked the "Purchases" tab of the appstore and there was no progress bar there at all!
I clicked "install" again and it turned from grey to light grey and a spinning busy signal appeared at the top of the window for a moment, then the "install" button turned back to the original color. However on the App's actual page in the appstore, it has an "installing" button that does nothing when I press it. I cancelled the download and the icon on the dock disappeared by nothing else changed. I tried downloading a different app but it said "waiting" beside it.
So I quit the appstore and try everything again. Nothing changes. Then I restart the computer and repeat the steps. Nothing happens differently and the end result is still the same. Please help! I have a MacBook Pro I bought in 2011 running OSX 10.6.8.
