I've only had the ipod since christmas and have never dropped it properly but I still can't restore it and nothing really seems to work. Will I have to get a new ipod or is there anything I can do?
I really hope someone sees this I know the thread is about 2 years old

Apr 11, 2014 5:52 AM in response to ttaraaby turingtest2,If you've only had it since Christmas and have looked after it well then I see no good reason why you should have that many reallocs. It should still be in warranty. Why not explore that option?

Apr 11, 2014 6:03 AM in response to ttaraaby turingtest2,My Corrupt iPod classic post has some more information, particularly if you follow the links to the background articles, but basically reallocations and pending reallocations are evidence that part of the disk couldn't be read properly. A brand new drive should be clear of both, but they may be expected to arise in small numbers over time. Larger numbers may be a sign of physical damage or a latent manufacturing defect. The source of the media isn't relevant.

Apr 23, 2014 12:39 AM in response to familyfishnby pthao.dang,Hi! I also had problems with my 2-year-old ipod classic gen 6th. Whenever I connected it to my laptop, it froze my itunes and I could not sync songs due to error 13010 as reported by itunes. I've tried so many ways to solve even restoring, deleting itunes liabrary genius file, etc. Before that my ipod still could play songs but only songs that were synced before, new songs, it could not, it only skipped them although all of them could be played well on itunes. Then I found this topic and followed the instruction here but unfortunately my disk utilities was still frozen and I could not complete the repairing step. For the test result I've got:
Retracts: 5
Reallocs: 792
Pending sectors: 2160
Power hour: 55
Start/stops: 4365
Temp: current 34c
Temp: min 15c
Temp: max 53c
Is there anything that I can do pls help I dont know what goes wrong with it anymore. Thanks.
Btw when I tried to erase on disk utilities, it reported that the operations could not be continue, it was corrupted.

Apr 23, 2014 1:06 AM in response to pthao.dangby turingtest2,Try the DFU Restore method shown in Corrupt iPod classic.
If it is Mac formatted try getting a friend with a PC to restore it, or vice versa.

I am also facing same problem, could you please help....
I tryed to Sync my ipod classic in to my new laptop (Windows 7 and itunes 11.2), when i connected first time itunes asked to restore the ipod and I did. After first time sync (about 3000 tracks) is comepleted, after disconnecting when i looked up on the device there is no music. After that i tried to connect to itunes again it asked me to restore the ipod and this loop continues...
I tried checking the form and tried to follow the steps to recoveer correpted ipod classic (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21977923#21977923) and Album by album for about 500 Tracks. When i open the ipod i could see the tracks and tried to play it.. I am able to play few tracks.. but suddenly when i try to choose other tacks it cannot able to play.. also i tried to choose the tracked which played previous and thoose to stopped working..

May 17, 2014 1:26 PM in response to arunsugby turingtest2,The stats look OK. Try disabling any AV software and use the "break up large transfer method" so see if that works any better.

May 21, 2014 8:51 AM in response to turingtest2by hayleealyssa,Hi turingtest2,
I restored my iPod Classic 160gb (newest edition - just got in July) because I had a change of library, and since syncing it with iTunes, a lot of songs are skipping. They pause, and then switch to the next song. I've tried restoring it and syncing it again - some songs now play all the way through, but others still do not. I ran a diagnostic on it.
Retracts: 0
Reallocs: 0
Pending Sectors: 0
PowerOn Hours: 853
Start/Stops: 10435
Temp: Current 29C, Min 55C, Max 248C (I don't think it ever actually got this hot - maybe something is wrong with the temperature sensor.)Since it doesn't look like there is anything with the hard drive, should I attempt deleting everything from my iTunes library and dragging it over again? I store my music on an external hard drive, which I must admit gives me a lot of connection issues. Perhaps that could be the issue, but I've never had this problem before; I've always been able to manage the loose connection. My last question: I recently couldn't find my Apple iPod connecter cord, so I've been using a third party one I found laying around in a drawer - could this also be the culprit?
Thank you so much for your time. My iPod is honestly very important to me - I'm going to school for music - so it physically pains me every time I watch/hear a song skip.
