Apr 26, 2014 8:42 AM in response to MacPlus1987by Allan Jones,★HelpfulIt's been a long time sice I was inside a Classic/Plus case but you may run into a space problem if you have to apply an adapter on the drive. That was a problem even in the more spacious PowerMac 61XX series. The fix was to put an adaptor not on the hard drive where we usually think to put it, but on the logic board end of the cable instead.

Forgot to say that this is an external drive. Think I will open the case to see if they actually used an EIDE drive with a SCSI interface, as I recall some PC-centric manufacturers did way back then; that might open up more options.
Otherwise, it sounds like I should stay away from Ultra-Super-Mega-Wide-SCSI and keep the replacement size as small as possible, in case there are >2Gb partioning issues. Hard to believe people are selling 20-year-old 40Mb HDs for $100 on eBay !
