Q: My phone number shows up private?!

I've had my iPhone 5c for a month now and people keep telling me that my number shows up private. Why is that? I looked under the settings over and over for a switch that got turned off but I can't find anything . This is my very first iPhone and I have no clue how to fix this.

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1.1

Mine doesn't have that option under the phone settings. I've already looked. :(
