Apr 23, 2014 1:09 PM in response to MK2bootby PDXScott,Same thing happened to me, was working fine and then wouldn't turn on one morning, wouldn't power up, nothing.
Went to Apple store, they couldn't get it to power on, couldn't find any water damage and didn't have any ideas why it wouldn't turn on or what happened.
3 weeks out of warranty, only choice they offered was to buy a refurb.
Worst of both worlds, I'm in a contract paying for a phone that doesn't work.
I'm done with phone plans that include a subsidized phone, so likely done with iphones after this debacle.

Apr 29, 2014 5:08 AM in response to myiphoneisgoldenby Sparletta,Same thing happened to me this morning. It was working well yesterday and this morning ,even the alarm for my reminders went off, 30 minutes later the phone was off.The phone is 2 months old,iPhone 5s. Also my daughter was doing this software update thing on her iPhone5 last week when it suddenly died. As u university student she hasn't found time to take it to apple store.
I have phoned my supplier since I bought mine on contract ,they said I must bring it in for repairs. Will know then what the problem is. Kind of disappointed, I dint expect this with apple products.

Apr 29, 2014 6:44 AM in response to Sparlettaby Lawrence Finch,Have you tried rebooting it, as explained innumerable times in the thread?
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears, then release.

Apr 29, 2014 6:58 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby Sparletta,Thank you Lawrence ,I have just done that and it's back on,so far it seems fine. I must admit I didn't read other peoples response or advise about this,so I didn't know.
Thanx again !

Apr 29, 2014 7:43 AM in response to myiphoneisgoldenby JJWenzell,Yes, holding the buttons will reboot your iPhone, but my iPhone 5 has shut off 5 times in the past 12 hours. I missed my morning alarm because it shut off randomly!
Holding the buttons down will not fix anything, it will just reboot your iPhone.
There seems to be a bug with the newest update that Apple really needs to take care of!
Update: My iPhone just randomly shut off for the 6th time! Immediately after rebooting...

May 2, 2014 3:41 AM in response to RJMby joiax06,Ok. So my ip5 suddenly died when I was doing some photoshoot and I never had a clue what went wrong so I just left it for awhile but I was kinda anxious, I admit. When I came home my girlfriend told me to search in the internet about it and WHAM! I read this article and tried it straightaway and it strangely worked! Thanks mate..I thought I'll have it sent to the shop for another rip off repair!
thanks much xxx

May 11, 2014 8:49 AM in response to myiphoneisgoldenby AKLori,My Iphone 5c suddenly died, I rebooted it and the apple logo comes up, then the screen goes black, then the logo comes up again, then the screen turns blue, then the apple logo comes up again. It has been doing this sequence for about an hour.

May 16, 2014 4:34 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby Bassplayer5,Sorry, what are the sleep and home buttons? My screen is a dim blue color. Nothing happens when I hold the on-off button
-
May 16, 2014 4:53 AM in response to Bassplayer5by Lawrence Finch,The HOME button is the big round button below the screen. The SLEEP button is the button on top, the one you called the on-off button.

May 19, 2014 5:06 AM in response to myiphoneisgoldenby aimankay,My iphone 5s died this morning and I had booked a phone call meeting using this number. It was more than 80% charged in the morning. Initially, I thought I just needed to charge but when it didn't start after charging I started to panic and postponed the meeting. Then I came across this solution that just turn on and off mute button few times and then hold the home button and switch off button together and it came back to life.
Apple must do something to resolve this issue as I don't want this to happen again to my Iphone.

May 20, 2014 12:31 AM in response to aimankayby MAB1975,This has just happened to me, was on charge tall night and checked weather. Phone was on 100%, went back to phone and was dead. Have done the reboot of home and sleep and this has brought back to life .... battery now on 83... no 81% and dropping!

this just worked for me, strange indeed.
Since when has rebooting a computer been "strange"? You mean you never had to reboot Windows? Or a Mac? Or Linux? Or even a mainframe?
