Aside from installing Windows, you don't. There are no mac applications that can read publisher files.

I believe the newest LibreOffice can open publisher files.

LibreOffice is compatible with many document formats such as Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. But LibreOffice goes further by enabling you to use a modern open standard, the OpenDocument Format (ODF).

    mikeokane,

If you have many Publisher files that you need to open then OpenOffice is likely a great option (as BobTheFisherman suggests).

However, if it is someone else that is sending you the Publisher files, then I have a constructive suggestion.  I have seen in many, many cases, that non-technically savvy folks simply don't realize that they can't send any particular file format to others (usually via e-mail attachment) and expect that they can open them.  I have found that most of these senders appreciate it when someone finally explains to them that very few of their recipients can open their files, and even when they can that they will not see the file as it looked in the original (due to lack of fonts, etc.).  In my experience they also appreciate it when you teach them that they should always just do a "Save As" to PDF before sending any file to others as an e-mail attachment.

I'm not sure if this applies to the source of your Publisher files but thought that I would throw in my two cents.

I did not suggest "OpenOffice", I said that "LibreOffice" opens Publisher files.
