Q: Does iBooks offer free book updates?
If a book offered by iBooks is updated in a fairly incidental fashion (not a whole new edition), can a buyer of the first version get a free updated copy? Amazon allows such freebies on Kindle purchases, as automatic book updates. If you opt into their auto-update program, you get your update without asking (or even knowing it's available), with bookmarks, notes, etc intact.
Does iBooks do anything remotely similar? Thank you.

Hey there CactusTx,
It sounds like you are wanting to know if you can update your book purchases when the author updates them on the store. Accordign to the following article yes, you should be able to do that and keep your bookmarks, etc. intact:
iBooks: Understanding book updates

When an eligible book has an update, you'll see a badge count similar to what you would see for an app update. The numbered badge represents the number of book updates available. When downloading a book update, your existing bookmarks, annotations, and notes are retained and carried over to the new version of your book.
The article outlines how to check for updates to books as well.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Take care,
Sterling
