May 2, 2014 3:26 PM in response to SimplyArtby rkaufmann87,★HelpfulSimplyArt,
The only obvious thing I notice is your machine is extremely low on RAM. 3GB is not very much RAM, I suggest upgrading to 6GB which is the maximum a 2007 iMac can accomodate. When I had a 2007 iMac I maxed mine out to 6GB and it regained some performance. You can buy a 6GB kit from OWC (www.macsales.com) or a 2 x 1 GB and 4 x 1 GB DIMM from Crucial.

May 3, 2014 8:18 AM in response to rkaufmann87by SimplyArt,I'll be bringing it to our local iGeek to get a cost maxing out upgrading vs. purchasing a new one. I've got one nerve left and my iMacs on it! Thanks for your feedback

May 3, 2014 10:59 AM in response to SimplyArtby rkaufmann87,If you are considering a new imac look at Apple's online iMacs on their online store. Excellent value and no down side whatsoever. Many of the users on these forums use them for just that reason. If you are in the US the link is:

May 4, 2014 9:20 AM in response to SimplyArtby Eric Root,★HelpfulYou might want to consider rkaufmann87 suggestion about buying RAM from OWC and installing it yourself. There are on-line instructions at the web site and iMac RAM is easy to replace/add. Much less e3xpensive than taking it to a technician.

May 4, 2014 9:51 AM in response to Eric Rootby SimplyArt,A local Mac user took his iMac 7 to our local guy and he replaced the hard drive for a reasonable fee. I was going to have him review mine for best options. Replacing the hd resolved his constant wheel spin. (I'm assuming the hd was updated). Thanks for all your suggestions. I've added RAM before by myself in an old Apple tower. What's crazy is our company's PC's are all taking a dive at the same time our macs are. Trying to decypher all these scenarios are driving me out to the garden. Happy Sunday!
