I'm trying to airplay a rented movie from the ipdad to my apple tv. All items are connected to wifi and in close proximity. But the movie keeps stopping and flipping back to my ipad. Then the movie restarts from the beginning.

Airplay for rented movies is not supported. It needs to be rented on a computer and accessed via home sharing or rented on Apple TV if you wish to view on your big screen.
