Q: IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered

Ever since I upgraded to IOS7 on my iPhone 4, I cannot send email. After I write the email and send it, it disappears. It does not show up in sent mail, and the intended recipient does not receive it. This happens on gmail, yahoo and aol accounts.  I can send and receive email just fine on my PC laptop. But no longer on my IOS7 iPhone. Occasionally the iPhone email is delivered hours later, but that is rare.  I have "rebooted" my iPhone, with no effect. Can I fix this?  Is it my iPhone or is it IOS7?  Can/will Apple fix this?  Anyone else have this problem?  Anyone know what I can do?

Thank you for posting this.  I recently started turning off my work Exchange account on the weekends and by closing the mail app (swipe up) the problem now has a work around until it gets fixed.  Not sure how many work and personal emails i have lost.  sigh

I just started having this problem. The youtube link provided by SteadyAT on 11/1/13 didn't help exactly, but it does seem to have helped me figure it out.

I couldn't follow the directions in the video because it woulnd't let me edit the password for the gmail account. BUT I set up a *second* gmail smtp under 'other servers' (which was empty) and apparently if the first smtp fails it tries again w/ the alternate and that works. So far, anyway. Granted I just did this but the email I tried to send last week suddenly sent, so that's progress.

Hope this helps. It would be cool if this wasn't such a big fat pain in the a55 but there it is.

The latest iOS 7.1 minor upgrade seems to have entirely fixed the email delay and disappear issue for me!  Everyone, upgrade to 7.1 and see if the problem persists.  None of the other solutions in this thread ever worked for me, but 7.1 seems to have addressed the problem.

    Yaaaaaaay.

So far so good with me, but to be honest if they have not fixed in this major release then they are seriously taking the pee. I complained to the vodafone business team a few weeks ago and they told me that its not their problem and that also an Iphone is not really designed as a business phone and that I should look at using a blackberry which is deaigned to handle email. Made me laugh, so a smart phone isnt geared up for email apparently.

Slychickie, the new iOS update is working for me so far - I'm still suspicious, it's only been three days, but so far so good!

I have the same problem that everyone is having in this post. At this point I'm not even trying to resolve the issue of emails not being sent. I'm just tyring to see if anybody knows if there is a way to retrieve all those emails that were sent and dissapeared from the iphone? If emails are not possible to find is there a way to see a log of the emails that were "not sent"?

Thanks for any help on this

    Absolutely not.

That's the whole issue. They vaporize and there is no record of them in outbox or sent emails etc. which is why the issue is of such concern to iPhone users

Some have reported that the latest IOS 7 upgrade may have fixed the problem. But it's early days.

Me too. Long email with images vaporized after selecting the small / medium / large confirmation for image size. Nothing in gmail sent items (on the phone or otherwise), just dissapeared and not sent.

This is a terrible bug to suddenly not be able to trust that your long emails aren't going to simply dissapear...

    Cmon Apple!

    iOS 7.1 btw...

So I had an important email arrive today via the mail app and gmail account. It had some exciting news so I took a screen capture on my iPhone 5 running 7.0.6, sent the screenshot to someone via BiteSMS (jb iphone) and BiteSMS crashed and caused a reboot on my phone. Came back on the email is no where. I have the screenshot and the text went through. But email has vanished.

I thought my phone was just being strange so i opened up my gmail on the computer. It's not there either. Not in spam, trash, archives... It has literally vanished. And if not for the screenshot, I'd think I'd have dreamt the whole thing. Now that I see there is issues with emails vanishing for other people - though it seems more on a sending side of things - this has me concerned for what else I may have lost...?

Hi all,  by chance I think I've stumbled on where these emails being sent are disappearing (at least for my yahoo mail) I managed to locate all of them.

When you open up the mail application on your phone, navigate to your yahoo mailbox account which is below your inboxes. Within your yahoo mailbox there seems to be a couple of new folders that have magically appeared one of which is called "sent messages". This is different to the "sent" folder with the paper airplane icon that all of us are familiar with. When, out of curiosity I tapped on that folder, all my recent sent mail that I couldn't find within the "sent" folder started getting downloaded to the phone. Not sure whether this is something that yahoo have introduced recently which is giving everybody grief or whether this is an apple related issue. I certainly am relieved that I managed to get all my "missing" sent emails. There is a another new folder called "yahoo conversations" and am not sure how stuff gets in there. Try this and hopefully it may solve your issue too.

I spent a few hours researching this issue and the FIX that got my emails sending again was to RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Once i did that, the issue was fixed.  The answer will hidden away in a post....I wish that I could find it again to let the poster know that it worked for me.

    Good luck!

Update--this fix didn't 'keep' more than a few days so what I did was switch to using the Gmail app. Swapped it out into the bottom toolbar thingy and all. No more problems.

Also, when I did lose emails before, I was able to find them in the Drafts folder.

Has anyone been able to resolve this ridiculous problem other than above? I have discovered important emails were not sent and now I have no record of proof I sent them as the have disappeared. Basic stuff Apple??

    Hi

It seems that downloading the latest apple software version does the trick

I haven't had any problems since then - IOS 7.1.1

    Good luck
