May 8, 2014 9:38 PM in response to FroggieGardnerby SilverSkyRat,Also Froggie, Apple Support told me this way to create your Apple ID without credit card or bank details:
- Go into the Mac App Store
- "Buy" any free App
- Try to download it
- You will be asked to create an Apple ID but not for financial details as the app is free.
Hope this helps

May 9, 2014 1:28 AM in response to SilverSkyRatby FroggieGardner,I have put my details in already, if anything does come out then Apple are going to be in trouble.
I got it downloaded - Im assuming its the right one - took about half hour to install, 45 to restart comp then was burned onto a disk, it just will not load on the laptop.
One of my colleagues has turned up today so I may get them to look into it
Thanks anyway

May 9, 2014 1:53 AM in response to FroggieGardnerby Csound1,Well that was an interesting but useless segue.
You need to start at the beginning, buy a copy of Snow Leopard, then update to whatever version of OSX you (they?) need.
That way it will work.

May 9, 2014 2:23 AM in response to FroggieGardnerby SilverSkyRat,Hi Froggie, I know the method I've been outlining prevuouy works because I've just done it to a second mac under my control.
If you need to, I'm still prepared to help you. Hopefully you downloaded "Install OS X Mavericks.app" from my steps above, not to go ahead with an install but to make a bootable install USB drive to boot the laptop from and install. Anyway, let me know if you want to go ahead.

May 9, 2014 2:44 AM in response to FroggieGardnerby SilverSkyRat,Yup, Froggie, remember from earlier we were going to use "Install OS X Mavericks.app" to make a bootable USB drive that we can then plug into the laptop to do the install.
Before we go any further though, please verify for me that what you downloaded was indeed "Install OS X Mavericks.app"
