Q: Playlists on iTunes are not syncing correctly with iPhone on iOS 7-only 48 of 134 songs on one playlist are appearing (all songs are checked and I've tried this both hardwire and wireless)...help!

So, I could use help from people who know mre about this than I do. I did a sync last night between iTunes on my Mac (latest version of iTunes) and my iPhone 5 running iOS 7. For some reason, about 90 songs in one of my playlists have disappeared.

  • The songs are all checked in the playlist in iTunes
  • The songs were all on the iPhone playlist prior to the sync
  • I've tried a sync again both by hardwire and wifi
  • I added a song to the playlist on iTunes and the song appeared in the iPhone playlist, but none of the other 90+ songs came back
  • I haven't checked my other playlists to see what is there and what isn't (I have lots of music, so this would take days to verify).

I've thought about managing my music manually, but I would have to rebuild everything from scratch on the phone which would take days and I'd never get everything back to the right place.

In as much as I'm otherwise liking iOS 7, the new iTunes app for iOS 7 has been a real pain. This is what's really put me over the edge on it!

If you all have any suggestions that could help, I'd really appreciate it! The playlist I'm referencing most specifically is my most-used playlist and I'd love to have it right.

Thanks!

iPhone 5, iOS 7

I am having major issues trying to get my playlists to update and sync. I never had a problem before and now nothing is working. I update a playlist on my pc in itunes, connect my phone and sync. The playlists are not transferring and the existing lists wont update. When I I go back to my updated playlist in itunes on my pc the new music I added is no longer there. I've trying un-syncing all music from my itunes and applying but it automatically ticks and syncs anyway. I am also getting duplicates of all my playlists. I've deleted them over and over and they just keep re-appearing. I read that someone restored their phone to factory settings and started over that way but there were no other comments of anyone else who tried that with success. I didnt want to do that unless absolutely necessary. Can anyone give me any suggestions, Im very frustrated.

I recently decided to update playlists I've had for a couple of years now. I have separate playlists for my iPad, iPhone, and iPod. These playlists do not include purchased music; i.e., I do not check the box for purchased music because I do not want all purchased music in my playlists.

Two days ago after I created a playlist for my iPhone, I SYNCed the iPhone via a hard connection to my iMac. A couple of observations: 1) the playlist I created has 1805 songs; 2) when I click on the iPhone device in iTunes, it shows 1810 songs; 3) when I look on the phone, there are 1958 songs.

A quick check, without checking each and every song, shows that the additional songs have a cloud by them like they are place holders for the songs. I'm guessing that means they are in iCloud and ready to download onto my iPhone.

I don't care if they exist as a place holder with a cloud by them, but, they play as if they are on the iPhone and already down loaded.

I've tried the erase and reset method.  I've tried deleting the playlist and recreating the playlist from scratch. The extra songs are still there.

How can I create a playlist that consists of only the 1805 songs I want on my iPhone?

OK, I've been playing with iTunes for several hours now.  I tried deleting all the songs on my iPhone.  I can't.  Seems there are about 15 to 56 songs (depending on where I look) that stay on my phone no matter what I try to do.

Oh, Yea, I updated to iTunes 11.1.5

Here is what I'm getting.  After deleting all of my Playlists and trying to delete all of the songs on my iPhone, (Note: there are still a lot of songs left on my phone that I can't find a way to delete.)  I created a new Playlist.  Note: I only have one playlist.  Here is what I have right now.

My library has 2616 songs, including 666 purchased songs.

        • Only one purchased song from my iPhone.

The Playlist I created for my iPhone has 1797 songs.

Clicking on the iPhone in "Devices" reveals "Music" and a folder with the name "iPhone"

and the Playlist titled "iPhone Playlist" as residing in the iPhone folder.

Clicking on Music shows 1803 songs

        • (or 6 songs more than the Playlist)

While in "Device," if I click on 'Music' (instead of Summary), it shows 1802 songs on my iPhone.

        • (or 5 songs more than the Playlist)

Opening "Music" on my iPhone and finding the number of songs I find 1851 songs.

        • (or 54 songs more than the Playlist)

What gives?  There is no correlation between any of them.

Why Can't I select which songs go on my iPhone from a Playlist?

( I thought that was the whole purpose of a Playlist. )

Where are these other songs coming from?

I really don't want to go through one-at-a-time and find the duplicates

This is really frustrating.  Not only do the extra songs eat up memory, but, if I wanted them, I would have selected them.  I would just like to have ONE location where I can find out what music is going to go onto my iPhone.

PS, the good news is, the clouds seem to have disappeared on the songs I deleted from my iPhone.
