Q: iPod switches off when the light goes off.

When I play music in the car on my Nano, I switch it on, using shuffle. After 40 seconds or so the light of the Nano goes off and the music switches off. I restart it sometimes 8 or 9 times. Suddenly it continues to play, also for a 3 hour drive and doesn't switch off again.

I can find no explanation for this. Any ideas?

Since I'm not sure which iPod nano you have, you might want to start here:

Selecting the iPod nano (7th generation) for example, then the troubleshooting section shows this article:

Verify that you have firmly connected the headphones to the headphone jack on your iPod nano. The cable should be flush against the iPod with no visible gap.

I saw this video on you tube, try cleaning the iPod jack by scraping fluff using a needle. It worked for me.
