Q: Using Back to My Mac to access files?
If I turn on Back to My Mac can I use this to copy files from one Mac to another or is it just for taking over the other Mac and viewing files?
Thanks.

Can you copy files from one Mac to another when you are not on your network? When you are connecting over the internet?
Thanks.
If you use this, is there a reason to store files in a cloud service like Dropbox, Google Drive etc. if you can just log into your Mac from anywhere and acesss, update and copy those files? What am I missing here?
Thanks.

Well, you can't login from anywhere. Back to My Mac only works from another Mac that is configured using the same iCloud account as the one you're connecting to. Also, Back to My Mac requires that the Mac you are connecting to is powered up and connected to the internet.
Whereas Dropbox & Google Drive etc. work from all Macs, and also PCs, Android devices, iOS devices and even the web, and don't require your computer to be powered up.
Transferring a file from your Mac is likely to be slower too because you're limited by the speed of the remote Macs uplink internet connection. Transferring from Dropbox etc, you're only limited by the downlink speed of the connection you're on.
1. What happens if the Mac screen is asleep or the Mac is sleeping? Will Back to My Work?
2. Is there a way to use Back to My Mac from iPhone or iPad?
Thanks for your help.
1. For the Mac to wake up for Back to My Mac, you have to turn on "Wake for network access" in the Energy Saver preferences. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3774
2. Not currently.
