Q: "Users" folder missing on Macintosh HD

For some reason I have my user folder in place

Good news that some have it in place, but bad news because Apple will not have a quick action to solve it

Just a quick question as you have the folder in place, do you have more than one User on your Mac ?

Start your computer with Alt + CMD + P + R in order to do a PRAM reset

Then start your computer with CMD + R for recovery partition boot

Launch Disk Utility and repair permissions. Quit Disk Utility and open Terminal (Utilities -> Terminal) and type :

cd /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD (or the name of your partition)

chmod 755 Users

chmod 755 Users/Shared

chflags nohidden Users

chflags nohidden Users/Shared

Restart, normaly everything is back to normal

After utilizing Software Update for the installation of 10.9.3 my Users Folder is visible.  I also used Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions before and after installing update and the users folder is still in place.  I am a single user, no multiples.  I did do a clean install for 10.9.2 a while back before updating.

It is strange indeed that it appears for some but not for others.

My folder is there after 10.9.3.  No issues.

Yep 10.9.3 added another Bug to a list of other bugs we were hoping it would fic but did not.

Same for me until I repaired permissions and rebooted. Now my /Users folder is invisible like others. Of course it is still easily accessed using the Finder's <Go to folder...> command.

You can use the solution of MorganPetit and not using the "repair permission tool" until a fix appear.

Hey Apple - How about an official sanctioned fix for this, and soon!

I have applications that need to see the Users folder.

I sure hope this is a bug, as it makes it completely impossible to explain to novices where things are actually stored and how to share files between users. 

I sort of understood why Apple wanted to hide the ~/Library folder within a user's home directory, but if this is intentional it's really getting out of hand.  At least create an "Advanced" section of Finder settings and allow someone to easily determine whether special folders are visible.
