May 14, 2014 8:09 AM in response to dkinsbruby Kurt Lang,Of course it is a concern if you paid for a high res screen and you can not work with with because the fixed font is incredible small...
"Incredibly small" would be something like 5 pixels high. I'm using a $2000 24" EIZO monitor with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200. The font size is easily readable, and nothing I would call too small.
That resolution isn't as high as some of the newer iMacs (the latest iMac 27" is 2560 x 1440), but I've worked on those also, and have no trouble reading them.
Yes, it can be considered objective, and I do agree users should have more control without having to resort to an overall increase of the screen resolution. But until Apple agrees and offers such a choice, we're all stuck with what we've got.

May 14, 2014 10:39 AM in response to joe smith 1513by Old Toad,The free app TinkerTool allows one to change the system font which should change the menu bar also.
It's primarily a hack to system preferences so use at your own risk. I've not used it for system fonts so can't comment on its effectiveness.

May 14, 2014 11:14 AM in response to dkinsbruby Kurt Lang,Yes it does. And on the 13" monitor, you'll crowd out everything else with your palettes and open file windows when you do that. I hardly see a gain there.
As Old Toad notes, you can try TinkerTool. But it will only increase the font size for menus on apps written purely in CoCoa. It will not change the top menu bar, or the menus in older apps.

Jun 22, 2014 7:10 AM in response to Eric Rootby godhel,Have done just that. It needs to be fixed.
I am starting to wish I stayed with PC; it is a pain in the arse having to continually change FONT on different product as well as increasing the FONT size.
Not impressed.

Jun 22, 2014 7:15 AM in response to Old Toadby godhel,Thanks Old Toad. But APPLE need to get the basic right we should not have to download extras to do a basic thing as setting your computer FONT & SIZE .
They also need to work on their MAPS another waste of time even had a CS person at APPLE tell it was crap (my word)

Jun 22, 2014 9:06 AM in response to godhelby Old Toad,Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
If enough users ask for that capability maybe Apple will include it the next time around.

Aug 31, 2015 4:52 PM in response to Kurt Langby Gurrrfuss,LOL! The new apple display is 5K resolution, and the menu Bar looks like 2pt font. There IS NO FIX!!!!

Aug 31, 2015 6:23 PM in response to Gurrrfussby Kurt Lang,Haven't had to opportunity to use, much less see a 5K iMac. So can't make a judgement of my own. As has been stated a few times in this topic, leave feedback to Apple for at least some minor control over the menu bar's font size. No amount of complaining here will change it, and the only solution anyone can give you at the moment is to reduce the monitor resolution.
