Q: iTunes 11.2 crashing

I just upgraded iTunes and OS X Mavericks to the latest versions (11.2 and 10.9.3 respectively). iTunes now crashes consistently (100%). It runs for about 10 seconds and then it's spinning beach ball time. I re-downloaded and re-installed iTunes 11.2 with the same results. I tried selecting another iTunes library (on my network attached server) on start-up and it does the same. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Thank you msontag for this tip.  I was having the exact same problem as you were with iTunes v11.2 hanging and with the exact same equipment (iPhone5 and iPad Air).  Doing as you did, Delete:

    ˜/Library/Application Support/SYncServices

and then reloading the iTunes, resolved the problem for me.

It seems like QC (quality control) matters  are getting somewhat lax at Apple beyond  just this one in the post SJ-era.

This also happened to me (iTunes 11.2, OSX 10.9.3)

My solution was to quickly sign out of my account before Genius started (which stopped Genius trying to analyze my library). Once the iTunes had started properly I signed back in my account and then activated Genius again. Genius then took about 2 hours to update but now all seems to be ok.

After update ITunes 11.2 freezes imediaty under OSX Mavericks. It's unbelieveable that I can crash a running System with an tested Apple Update! Who is responsible for that at Apple? When will we Users become an official Support from Apple?

How do I get to /Library/Application Support/SYncServices? I searched in spotlight/finder and nothing with that name "syncservices" :S

Thanks for your advise, but unfortunately it didn´t solve the Problem. I also updated the new 11.2.1 ITunes.

ITunes 11.2.1. crashed imediately after Start. Sometimes it seems to work for some seconds, sometimes it

doesn't start at all. Yesterday morning (we are here in Germany) at the same time i had a well working mac and was happy. Now i´m really dissapointed and frustrated. I wished i could turn back the time via Timemachine - but this is not working. Any ideas?

it's done nothing to fix mine either - i tried rolling back with time machine last night with no luck - pretty pathetic that I'm trying to roll back to a program that crashed five or six times a day on a machine that cost as much as macs.

i find the continual silence from Apple as annoying as the problem.

I too are having the same problems since I update Itunes to 11.2, (using windows 8.1) I have tried all I have found on the net about the problem but no joy, execpt I did open the preferences at the very begining of Itunes starting and looked for a setting to change there wasn't any............ BUT, Itunes did not crash afterward, tried it again with out preferances it crashed........ But if I open preferances first no crash, that works for me untill a fix comes through.

somehow opening preferances first stops crashing ....goto edit scrol downt to preferances and open.. try it may work for you too

    Hi

Open your hard drive. Click users. Select your home folder. Up to finder menu select Go. Select go to Folder. Type in library and the hidden folder will appear. Then delete the folder as explain before. It must be the folder in your own library folder.

    Hope this helps.

I have found out a workaround for Mavericks 10.9.3 Users with Timemachine:

    1. Open Time Machine to the last Date before your Update ( 5/10/2014 in my case (engl. Date)

    2. Delete Itunes to the trash

    3. Reinstall Old Itunes (in My case 11.1.) from Time Machine Applications

    4. After opening an error message comes " Itunes can not read Itunes Library.itl because it´s from newer Version"

    5. Find this file - in my case music/itunes/itunes library.itl and delete it

    6. Reinstall itunes library.itl from your Time Machine (in my case from music/itunes/itunes library.itl

    7. Start Itunes - It worked for me and now I´m happy :-)

    8. Don`t udate to newer Itunes Version untill it`s stable

Maybe you habe to change your rights in the itunes app under information to read/write permission.

    Hope that helps

I noticed it only crashes if you connect your phone or if your wifi is enabled or have internet. It is trying to sync with something and thats when is crashing. I'm sure by now apple has a team working nonstop to come up with a patch that works. Yesterday there was a 200mb patch but didn't help.

No iphone connected, wifi not enabled, but I do have Internet.  Deleted the synservices folder.

11.2.1 still crashes about a minute into running.
