Q: my existing purchases have INSTALL next to them, but when I try click on them it says "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)". I've tried restarting, clearing all caches, buying and downloading new apps (which works). Any idea

Hi - in the app store, I've logged in with no problem, but when I go into my existing purchases and have INSTALL next to everything I've bought, and try to click on them it says;

"There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)".

I've tried restarting, clearing all caches, buying and downloading new apps (which works), and also buying and downloading more music from iTunes too (so I update all T&C's etc too, and update all payment info). But nothing seems to solve this. Any ideas?? Thanks a lot, Greg

First take the steps recommended in this support article. If there's no change, continue as follows.

    Back up all data.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.cookies

Right-click or control-click the line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

    Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Hi Linc Davis - thanks so much for trying to help out. I tried both options you suggested and both times my mac says that the folder can't be found. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

Open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting

    Go Library

from the Finder menu bar. Navigate in the usual way to the folder indicated above.

Thanks again - but that folder doesn't exist on my machine - I had my hard drive replaced by a dealer, but there is no cookies folder in my library - I've also searched the computer and the file you mention isn't there either... maybe they made a mistake when the replaced the hard drive. I guess I'll have to go back to them.... Thanks for helping though....

No, but it sounds like you're not interested in pursuing this.

I was thinking more that I didn't want to use up your time as your helping me for free, rather than not being interested in pursuing it. I'm desperate to get it fixed... If you have more suggestions I'd very much like to know them.

Hi Linc, assuming you didn't have any other ideas then? I didn't want to appear overly demanding, hence my earlier email (as I said), but from you last response I take it you are happy to help - so if you do know how to fix it, please let me know as this is v urgent my end. Bit confused...

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.

Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ls -@Oaen L*/Coo* | pbcopy

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.

The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.
