Q: iTunes ver 11.2.1 hangs when connecting to iPhone

Hi,

I've just upgraded my iMac to Mavericks v: 10.9.3 and iTunes v: 11.2.0 / 11.2.1 in the last few days ....  and now iTunes crashes whenever I coonect my iPhone 4s to my iMac using a USB connection.

I was hoping that the new updates would restore the option to sync my contacts by USB.

I would be mighty grateful for any solutions to this problem ....  and wonder if this problem has been experienced by anyone else.

Also ... is there a solution for syncing the Address Book to MS Outlook 2011 for Mac (v: 14.4.1)?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

    SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

    View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    Back up all data.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. Log out or restart the computer and empty the Trash. Test.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

    Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Link, a big THANKYOU for this solution ... worked first time.  I have spent the past week, several hours each day trying to solve this and only this evening I came across your post.  I guess I finally used the right combimation of key words in my searches, ;-), anyway thanks a million.  All started with update to iTunes 11.2.1 and OSX 10.9.3.

    Awesome!!!

    Thanks!

This fixed my problem with sync'ing my iDevices from iTunes. However, I took your suggestion and fixed it via terminal.

    cd ~/Library/Application Support/
    mv -f SyncServices SyncServices.old

After listing the directory contents, I see a new SyncServices folder created. No need to reboot. By simply renaming the folder, I don't have to worry about recovering any lost data. After I'm satisfied that nothing was lost, I can just delete it.

    (I spent hours)

The solution from Linc Davis solved my problem --- many many thanks!
