Q: iOS 7 cellular data settings won't save on iPhone 4s???

I'm using a 16GB iPhone 4s, with the latest version of iOS 7 as of writing this, version 7.0.3. Whenever go to the "Cellular" settings on the main settings page and turn OFF cellular data usage for a lot of my apps except for a few key apps that I need it for (Mainly Mail, FB Messenger App, Google Maps, and What' s App that I leave on), the moment I back out and come back in, almost all the apps I turned cellular off for are back on again. I've tried turning background app-refresh off thinking it was overriding my cellular settings, nothing. I've tried restarting my phone a bunch of times, nothing. Nothing I do seems to fix this issue and it's frustrating because I have the minimum data plan from AT&T and I can't turn cellular off completely because I don't have a texting plan and depend on iMessages, FB Messenger, and What's App to get messages from people, and a lot of times it can be urgent so I need to figure out how to fix this stupid bug. Anybody else have a similar issue and/or know how to fix this?

Also on Step 13, should I EXPORT the file before DISCONNECTING it, or just disconnect.

CellularUsage.db export should only be done on step 7. On step 13, you just need to disconnect SQLiteStudio from the file. Make sure to apply the changes before disconnecting (if in doubt, connect again to the file and check if valued of Flag column are the ones you set up.

And Last thing, Step 17, when I right click the imported Cellularusage.db, a window has 3 checkboxes, the upper 2 boxes checked and the third is not.  Could that be the problem.

Can you tell what options are there? right now I don't remember what they are but I think I left the default options for that.

Please help!  I'm up to step 17 but I got the message "No device connected".  I have my iTunes open and I can see my phone there but not on iBackupBot.

Just a lucky guess: try closing you itunes application while using the ibackupbot application and make sure Itunes is not automatically backing up your device.

Well, I connected to the CellularUsage.db after changing the values, and it was OK (meaning all the changes made was there).  Then I disconnected it and Imported the file in iBackupBot, and then restored it to the iPhone

    and to no luck

I don't know, may be there is something preventing it from being written to the iPhone.

Regarding the Checkboxes they are :

1- Reboot Device after Restore (Recommended)

2- Don't copy backup (by default, iTunes will make a copy of backup after restore)

3- Remove items from device that will not be restored

    =============================================

I treid one time with only first box checked, and another time with first 2 boxes checked.  I've noticed when only the first box checked that it took longer to restore the file (Actually I could see the bar of progress is being filled) but when 2 boxes checked it was very fast that I could not see it

after that it will say (in both cases) that Restore was done, and as the steps says, I click done, and I disconnect the iphone.  It then reboots, and I check the cellular usage and all of the apps are on again

    its making me crazy

Thanks for the fast reply and for trying to find the solution.

Restoring from the window on the right from the correct directory, WirelessDomain/Library/Databases/ . I'm beginning to think it's a permissions issue as suggested by others.

Maybe it's time to visit a friend or build myself a Hackintosh

Thanks so much for your response!

If I don't have iTunes open, it shouldn't be backing up?  Is that right?

I was wondering if it could be that I'm on OSX 10.9 while iBackupBot is only for up to 10.8.  What ver OSX are you using?

If it still doesn't restore (find the device first!) with iBackupBot, do you think it would work just as well if I did a restore from iTunes since CellularUsage.db has already been updated?

    Hi Nuno,

Don't worry about my silly question, my cable was connected somewhere else and I was seeing my phone in iTunes over wifi!!!  Must have been falling asleep...or getting too excited to get to the end...

The good news is that your solution worked!!!  I knew it would as the logic sounds right, with the corrupted flags.  I just hope that there will not be anything that triggers those flags again

Thanks so much for your solution.  You should go work for Apple!

HAving read the the last post, I've noticed that iTunes wifi sync is enabled on the phone, could have sworn it was disabled. Maybe that's causing the issue I'm having with restoring the file.

Have you tried the procedure again after disabling wifi?

Liked it as soon as phone was fixed!  I can't believe there isn't more Likes.  This has saved me so much trouble and saved my data from draining.  Basically just got my phone to be able to function as a proper phone again.  Invaluable advice!

Hi guys, I just figured out a very simple solution for this problem.

I realized that newly installed apps didn´t have the problem, so, what I did, and worked pretty fine for me, was to delete and reinstall the app that I wanted to enable (Mobile data) or disable. Just do that! and the button to enable mobile data for that app will work again! Yeah! that simple.

Hope it works four you guys!

I forgot to mention, my problem started when I updated to iOS 7.1.1 (From 7.1). I don´t know if it would work for other versions.

This is true for installed apps, but not for apple default apps.  You can't uninstall those :(
