Apr 26, 2014 6:49 PM in response to krissoundzby Malthmazar,Dear Apple.
This should be embarrassing to you and for you.
This is a known issue for years, and your only response is sending a generic canned email response at the beginning of this thread. That's insulting to us, the customer.
You have a suite of products and clearly is the reason you remain in business. Yet you don't bother fixing a major gap in your system?
My family enjoys watching movies, netflix, tvshows, etc., and base our family entertainment around this product when we have family nights, and I know we can't be the only ones. Doesn't that mean anything to you?

Have you read or addressed this concern any further? Because your response doesnt work. Apple TV is now pointless and Google Chorome seems to be the alternative route.

May 2, 2014 7:17 PM in response to BrendanJMby zegeli,There is no fix or solution for this, its been 3 months I have the Apple TV and I already tried everything, tried connecting the internet cable directly to Apple TV, updated the software numerous times, changed the resolution of my computer screen, nothing works, Its impossible to connect your MAC to Apple TV everything else works (iPhone - iPad). Its just lagging and freezing making it impossible to watch anything from your MAC.
Sad thing is I bought it to connect my MAC to my tv and watch movies and it ended up being useless, just waste of my money... What is the use of Apple TV if you cannot watch things from your computer???
I tried being patient and thought I could fix it but after 3 months and numerous attempts I am pretty sure Apple TV"s are garbage. Apple is selling an unfinished product, a product that does not work when you connect your MAC, Its just incomlete, buggy or I dont know just not doing what it should be doing.
I am just sad and angry to myself for buying this crap TV....
P.S: Forgot to write, everytime I go to the MAC center they tell me I just need to update the software and the solution is in that latest update, they know very well that their product is not performing and that they dont have a solution for it and instead of accepting it they just lie to your face hoping that you go away and waste your time trying to fix something thats unfixable, its been 2 times they sent me home for an update and non of those latest updates solved anything... Its the same old garbage Apple TV still freezing to a point where its impossible to use your MAC on TV

May 3, 2014 12:56 PM in response to krissoundzby RandomGuy60,Just to chime in - another user with identical problems - macbook air, latest everything, atv, latest everything, streaming from my iphone works perfectly, from the macbook it's terrible. Shameful that this it not fixed or even a workaround identified by the vendor.

May 10, 2014 12:43 PM in response to krissoundzby 1eonardo,Hello kissoundz, I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro with a Radeon HD 6750 dedicated graphhics card and an Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics. The OS is Mavericks and it uses automatic graphics switching software which utilizes the integrated graphics for low intensity video requirements and switches to the dedicated graphics card for more intense video needs. I stream to a 3rd generation apple tv a great deal and really have had no problems. I mainly stream from abc.com or netflix but I recently started watching "Orphan Black" which is offered on Amazon Prime. It would stream ok but when the episode was over and I went to the mac to switch to something else, that's when the trouble started. Wherever I moved my cursor the screen began to erase like using a paint tool in photo shop to erase part of an exposure. I would have no control and could not access the drop down menu by clicking on the apple logo, so I had to reort to a total reboot. I turned the graphics swithcing off in system prefferences; enrgy saver. The video would stream fine and I had complete control of my mac but the internal fans were screaming at about 5,500 rpms. I googled the streaming requirements for Amazon Prime and found I needed to down load the Silver Light plug in and update my Adobe Flash player. I can now stream with automatic graphics switching on and fans operate around 2,500 to 3,200 rpms and I have complete control of the mac. My wife has a late 2011 Macbook Pro 13 with streaming issues as well. It would stream but canstantly stop and say loading. We installed the necessary plug ins and everything is fine now. This seems to be a different issue from what you are experiencing but maybe it can help.

May 15, 2014 10:51 AM in response to krissoundzby DonkeyKongJr,Same problem as most everyone else here, but I have found a possible answer / workaround.
Problem: Laggy / stuttering performance when using Airplay Display from a MacBook Pro, most noticeable with video playback, but I've seen this in slideshows of pics from iPhoto as well. Airplay works fine over iPad and iPhone on the same network.
Answer / Workaround: First off, I'm sorry this "answer" will NOT help most of you, because it seems the problem occurs with certain routers and/or router configs. Here's how I found a workaround: My AppleTV is connected to a stock CISCO Linksys N UltraRangePlus router. When I start AirplayDisplay when connected through this router, I have the same problem as everyone else. However I have a second router - a CISCO Linksys e2500 router that I've flashed with DD-WRT (an open source router firmware replacement) so that it could serve as a wireless bridge (a wireless bridge is a way to extend a wireless signal). When I connect to my network through this second router, the problem goes away. Video plays with no lag from the MBP.
What's this mean for you? The simplest test is to try to borrow a spare wireless router from a friend, relative or colleague and try it in your network. If it works, there you go. If you're comfortable poking around your router settings, there may be some setting that's causing the problem - tho I have no guess as to what it might be. A final option is to install DD-WRT if your router supports it, however this final option is not for the faint of heart. It took me two solid, half days to research DD-WRT and flash my router. You can brick your router, making it completely useless. If you don't have the time or technical prowess, do not attempt.
Of course Apple should try to fix this problem and I hope Airplay Display will work on all routers equally well (like it did pre-Mavericks), but if you want results now, you'll have to take matters into your own hands.

May 15, 2014 11:33 AM in response to krissoundzby alcotrim,Yes DKJR I agree with you. I restart the router and my Mbookpro and the problem was fixed but , stil happens sometimes and I restart my Mbookpro and fix de problem. I imagine apple will fix this in the next OS update.
