Q: getting startup message "You shut down your computer because of a problem" when no problem existed prior to sit down

Currently using OSX 10.9.3 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro (Feb'08) with 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

I have run the Disk Utility to Verify Disk and Verify Disk Permissions, but the above message appears each time I start or restart my MacBook Pro. I have also tried disconnecting the USB connected portable Seagate 500 GB HD that I use for Time Machine backups.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)

Post the panic log. You can find it in Console under System Diagnostic Reports. The log will say "panic" in the first few lines.

Copy the log and paste it here.

There was nothing listed under the System Diagnotic Report so I copied the entire log for a shutdown and startup.

I can tell that there are some odd things going on, but I'm not sure I can interpret.

Maybe someone else here can interpret the log and offer some advice.
