Q: Pro connections

Can anyone help me. Why is it that when i insert a card reader into the side slot on my Mac does it not recognise it ? i look in the finder but its not there, how can observe it so i can copy to it ?

    By default OSX does not show other devices on the Desktop. Part of Steve Jobs' Zen thing I suspect. You can easily enable it.

     

    Make sure "Finder" appears next to the black Apple at the left end of your menubar. From the Finder menu select "Preferences." You will get this:

    Make sure all the boxes under "Show these items on the desktop" are checked.

     

    Now see if your card shows up.

     

    Some cards may only be recognized by Image Capture in your Utilities folder.

    Ok done that and it worked thanx. However , now i cant unzip the file, it says my Mac has no programme to do i and i should go to the app store. But which one do i choose ? and why has my Mac no programme to do it ?
