Q: PLEASE HELP. CHARGE AC ADAPTOR QUESTION

is the charger of a macbook A1286 compatible with the charger of a macbook A1237?

I am buying a A1237 but it is completely dead and the seller does not have the charger.

I all though have the charger to a A1286.

Is the charger of an A1286 enough to just power it on for about 5 minutes so I can check out the A1237 before I purchase?

Any help what so ever would be appreciate it.

(I would buy one but not looking to spend $40-$60 and then turn around this sellers laptop doesn't work & I'm stuck with an A1237 charger.

If anyone knows a place in NYC where I can purchase the A1237 charger for under $20.00 please let me know. can manage that. Thanks)

MacBook Air, iOS 7.0.1

See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2346 for the correct charger/MacBook matchup.  A charger for under $20 is not a good idea as it probably is not going to be in very good working order or a third-party knock-off.

It's just to test it in order to see it is functing well if then I do purchase I will buy the original charger to the laptop. Just do not want to spend money on an original charger & I don't end up buying it.

-And I checked out http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2346 and still confused if it will function with the A1237.

The A1286 was a Late 2008 Unibody, and the A1237 looks like a 2007 model.

The 13" models used the 60 watt adapter and the 15/17" models the 85 watt adapter.

If the adapter you have is the 85 watt model, it will work with the different model computers, but if it is a 60 watt, it will not likely work with a 15" model computer.

You can use more powerful adapter with a computer, but not a less powerful model adapter.

    Does that make sense?

Yes it makes some sense to me. Sorry as I never had anything apple other than my iphone I just purchased last week. The other chargers is my friends and he doesn't know. Both laptops are 13 inch though.

Thanks for the help! I highly appreciate it.

You are very welcome.  Since they are both the 13" model, the charger should be compatible...get an idea of the working condition of the MacBook Pro.

If you have more questions about the MacBook, stick around and ask, we are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees...goal is to help other users until things get to the point of needing Apple to do something like actually work on hardware.
