AirPort Utility will tell you exactly why the amber light is flashing.....and also suggest a remedy for the "issue".

Open up the application.....Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility and first check to see an Update button might appear, and if so, click it.

Otherwise, click directly on the amber dot and another window will open. Click on the small amber dot next to Status for more details.

Utility tells me to change from NAT and DCHP to Bridge, I see a thunderbolt bridge, not sure what this is or how to fix it

Open up AirPort Utility again and click Edit in the small window that appears.

Click the Network tab at the top of the next window

Change the setting for Router Mode from DHCP and NAT to read "Off (Bridge Mode)"

Click Update and wait a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart

Then, power off both your modem and the Time Capsule

Wait a minute or two and then start the modem and let it run a few minutes

Then, start up the Time Capsule again

This worked for me. After a few frustrating hours. light kept blinking yellow after changing cable providers. I plugged my time capsule into the new cable router and backups were happening but the time capsule kept blinking yellow. I unplugged router and reset time capsule multiple times to no avail. Downloaded new Airport Utility but it doesn't run on my system.

Fix: Opened Airport Utility and click the amber circle on the left next to the airport time capsule icon, and I see there is "internet connection" but "no DNS servers." till in airport utility I Click on Edit. Under the network tab, I see

    DHCP and NAT,

    DHCP only

    Off (Bridge Mode)

Since I don't have any IP addresses to add to DHCP or NAT, I chose Bridge Mode. I never heard of Bridge Mode and there is no description of what this is or what it does, but the time capsule turned green and I didn't have to do anything more. Thanks!

Bridge means the TC does no routing.. it is merely a wireless AP and network disk and switch.

That is because your cable provider has given you a modem router. Bridge is correct way to run the TC with another router in front of it.

I have a similar case, my TC was flashing yellow all the time, and showing the "overheating"message, so I did a reset pressing the button on backside of TC, and restored to the factory settings, after that It is running almost 3 weeks without any problem.
